Chichen-Itza is one of my favorite sites, have been to most Mayan sites in the Yucatan over the years from 1970's 1990's, when there wasn't too much tourism. Times change. Good video and advice.

Just went there today. It's a war zone of vendors. And the guys that are cutting away at something making it look hand made, it's fake. Its all for show.

What is the current entry fee at chichen itza for general admission non mexican citizens? I am getting conflicting information. Some tour guides say the entry is included in their tour fees and it seems to me very low compared to the entry fee listed on the website.

Top tip: don’t go. It’s built in modern times. These aren’t ancient ruins, the stones you’re seeing are laid in modern times. You can literally see them building or “restoring” other buildings at the site using freshly cut stones. It’s a tourist trap. Visit a museum or just see a documentary on mayans instead. You’re really not missing anything. There are actual ancient ruins elsewhere in Mexico that are much cheaper to visit with less tourists.
