Thanks Armando! This is the closest I've seen a camera under 2500 USD to challenge cinema cameras. And honestly, for smaller productions, this is good enough even as the A-Cam when rigged out properly, especially with the solid BRAW compatibility

Most likely not, that camera doesn't fit in my ecosystem. It's a very strange camera because it's target audience is vloggers but the price is super high. Don't get me wrong, the specs are killer but at that price point It's a hard pill to swallow.

@@darealphantom For me it's the USB C recording that is super useful. This camera takes SD Cards and even with a V90 transfers are slow in comparison to a fast SSD. Not to mention you can get that SanDisk Pro 1TB ProBlade drive for $120 which is amazing for storage.

@@mondobytes literally I watched the video again and realized that it does recording straight to the SSD not sure if anyone else does that it’s amazing that feature in itself no need for SD cards literally can get that ssd you mentioned and only use it for the camera 🤯🤯🤯 got me ready to return it but I did get a great deal on it from Best Buy ($1800 open box literally brand new I saved $400 compared to the S5iix) so I will just learn this camera since I’m new to Panasonic first and upgrade for Christmas

Hey Armando! Great video once again! Kinda torn between the 2 cameras S5ii and S5iix - is it easier to live stream with the S5iix? Or do you think an s5ii would suffice? Mostly using the camera for music videos/green screen stuff and live streaming. And we're coming from a GH6...

Thank you for this video! I am actually a Canon m50 shooter right now and I want to upgrade to the s5ii and it is already pretty hard to get the money together to buy the body itself and than spend more on the glass, because there is hardly any on the used market around my area.. Those 200 or 300€ make a little difference if you for example rather want to invest in the atomos ninja v to have a better display and more visual video features (: Firstly I wanted the Canon R6 and the glass for Canon is way cheaper but the Lumix has some impressive video capabilities and maybe it is worth investing in that system now.

Armando, have you tested the S5 II with a DJI Ronin plugged in with USB-C camera controls while also having a Ninja V (or any other monitor) plugged into HDMI at the same time? I'm wondering if Panasonic has fixed the infamous black screen issue or not. On the original S5, the camera’s screen will go black if USB-C and HDMI are connected at the same time.

I'm too invested in Sony cams. just got the ZV-E1 but if I had to buy another camera brand it would definitely be a panasonic. Sony (minus the frimware updates..) & Panasonic are definitely killing it!

My S5iiX is waiting at the post office to collect Monday! I’m in a PAL country so most pumped to have Open Gate modes in 50Hz on the S5iiX. My S1H has OG but it only supports NTSC and 24fps. …this all in the context of shooting open gate Anamorphic, and there are simply NO other prosumer cameras that support anamorphic like Lumix does!!!

If they came out the same time it was a no brainer but I got 5months of paid projects done on the S52 beofre the X version become available after it did I did not see enough new features for me to bother since I have a ninja V for ProRes and Raw if I feel the need.

We got like hundreds of comparisons of the S5II to the IIX, I am waiting for someone to compare it to the S5, cause at this point I feel like that is not necesarily that much of a upgrade considering I dont use AF.

Great video!!! (as always) QUICK QUESTION: I cant find the answer to this ANYWHERE ONLINE. I am a hybrid wedding shooter and one of the issues I have with my current Sony A7s III and the A7 IV is the lag experienced in photo mode after firing off 4 to 5 photos and then immediately jumping into video mode to record a few seconds of video. How does the S5 IIX perform in that same situation? Currently I am looking at the Nikon Z8 since there is zero LAG in that type of situation. (from what I have seen online) but that camera is $2,000 more soooooo any insight you can offer would be a huge HELP. If the S5 IIX can switch faster than a Sony A74 with a v90 UHS II SD card in it, then I think I found my solution. Fingers crossed over here and thanks for your time and all you great videos.

I don’t know in-depth, but from a7s3 to s5llx is not a good Upgrade to be frank..

The A7s III is still the Low Light King in my opinion but I found myself never using any ISO beyond 12,800 and from what I have seen online, it looks like the Panasonic S5 II looks pretty comparable at up to ISO 12,800. I use 1.8 primes and Lighting so I feel safe trading the Low Light strength of the A7s III for the awesome video features of the Panasonic. The S5 II has key features like: In camera LUT Preview, Wave Forms, Open Gate, and the much better in body stabilization are all features that make the job easier. Besides IBIS, I doubt those other features will be included as firmware updates for A7S III. PLUS.... I used the original Panasonic S1 for a couple years before I switched to Sony and I enjoyed that system. I actually prefer working with those files than what I get from the Sony gear I have. I primarily switched to Sony for auto focus and low light ability but back then i did a run and gun production with NO off camera light. So Low Light ability was KEY for me. As for auto focus, I think the S5 II doesn't leave much to be desired. Soooo I should be just fine in that regard. HOWEVER.... if I am completely wrong, I will totally come back here and update this comment because others will need to KNOW this valuable info. Thanks again for all the awesome videos you make and for showing up in the world the way you do. You are a huge help to so many people.

@@JaimeDelRio First and foremost, I’m a videographer and I would like to buy s5 mark 2 just because of the advantages as you mentioned. In my opinion as a videographer, s5 mark 2 is the best BUDGET video camera that you can buy in 2023 and it has tremendous potential with a new sensor… As a sony lover , I think sony cameras all about brand value and they are focused more toward the quality than features ; I’m not say that , its not worth but it’s expensive when compared to other brands . End of the day , i will probably miss 4k 120 fps in lumix s5 mark 2 but i will get plethora of features that this camera provides… totally worth it . 👨🏻‍💻

Well the latency of hdmi output is dealbreaker for me. Same issue was on my S1H, and because of the latency I cannot pull focus even with good cinema lens and a bare hand. So sad to hear that issue has not been solved... yet.

You can disable audio from HDMI in settings and that fixes the latency issue. That’s what we did for our short film and worked flawlessly.

Did you get the gratis Panasonic-Lumix trip & housing Trip to Japan? If so, how about the big box of free lenses in addition to cameras on an unlimited loan time basis. If so, do u feel that such an experience might in anyway have an impact on reviewers like you and others who might have been there as far as neutral factual reviews are concerned? Got to smile, would have been a fun trip. See that lots of Panasonic fan boys & gals cashed in on the deal. Most all of them had glowing reports. However, seems like the new Autofocus upgrades still haven't matched Sony's AF ability. Comments? 😎😎

Man, compare this "small packaging" with S1 and S1R retail box, versus this one shoes box... And "come with a charger" this is NOT come with a charger, so this is suck. Soon USB cable will be additional extra accessory. It's not a bummer, but impression that when you stepped into a $ht, not a drama, but not a nice move. If the camera has a Olpf filter on is sensor and do 422 10bit C4K 24fps with log it can be added in the Netflix approve list but I don’t think it will be added soon, neflix will test the reability of the camera
