There's a time and a place for everything. If I'm running errands in the summer for the day, running to the post office or supermarket, I'm not wearing Krigler Abracadabra or initio Atomic Rose. I'm wearing my basic Versace yellow diamond 😂🤣 I don't mind smelling like how I look running errands at times. However my car, bag and accessories are far from basic, even if I'm smelling basic. So there's balance 🤷🏾‍♀️

New doesn't always equate to better. There is a reason fragrances are around for a long time, it's because they are beautiful and still appeal to a large group of people. I hear "what is that beautiful fragrance you're wearing?" all the time, no matter where I am, so Chloe still rocks. One person's basic is another person's classic and perfect. I own the niche and the not, and everything in between, it depends on my mood which one I reach for : )!!

Idk, for me "boring" has to do with how often you smell specific perfumes on other people in your area. There was a time when i lived in London when everybody I was passing by, smelled like rose/oud combo. After a certain point, it was all the same. Maybe if I would have passed by someone that smelled like Daisy, I would have appreciated it back then and not considered it basic, due to the fact that it would have been something different than what I was used to smell.

OMG! I HATE D&G Light Blue! I’ve never liked it and never understood why other people liked it. It smells like linen spray to me. I’ve actually used the word basic to describe it. 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

I Just love how almost anyone in the comments Is getting offended because you define "basic" the fragrance that they are so proud of, but they don't want It to be seen. 😂 Grow up people ,the "i don't care if it's basic, I like It, everyone likes It" comments are self explanatory: It s Just an inoffensive "meh" perfume for the majority of people, in other words....basic!

Every time you mention Crystalline. I say out loud, literally, to myself, “Oh, that’s such a great scent. I need to repurchase that.” And then I forget until you mention it again. It’s such a pretty fragrance. I really need to repurchase it. And to you, a friendly reminder, to try Bulgari Amethyst

I always avoided bright crystal like the plague because people said it was basic. But I just smelled it for the first time in my life and I was delightfully surprised. I still don't think ill own a bottle but it's very nice and was not as "basic" as I had been expecting

The way I avoid basic scents without breaking the budget is wearing classics. Try Rochas Femme or Tocade if you want to smell amazing for under $30. Also the classic Guerlain's like L'heure bleue & Mitsouko you can get under $50, nothing basic about them & you smell like a million bucks

I totally had to give up J'adore especially when a sales associate my mom's age told me it smelled matronly! I do enjoy the new infinissime so much more. i can't wait to get a small bottle to be my classic fragrance.

Yana, Love you for always speaking your mind! There’s nothing wrong with basic fragrances...it depends on what you like and how it suits you the wearer. If you love it...be confident and rock that fragrance!There are a lot of lovely perfumes out there that I don’t wear because I’m not a fan of smelling like food but I enjoy smelling them on others. Light Blue might be basic and very mainstream, but I don't care, haha. I adore it (and all of the flankers I have tried), and it is by far my most complimented fragrance. I honestly don't think there's any other fragrance out there that's exactly like Light Blue either. There's so many fragrance DNAs that have been often imitated (BR 540 and Viva La Juicy for example), but I haven't come across any that are like Light Blue. It's an oldie but a goodie, and it still smells unique to me.

Great video! Very informative. It's good to have fragrances that stand out a little in my opinion too.. I do have a little bottle of Versace Bright Crystal and Chloe just because they are an easy go to fresh scent, but you do have a very good point of these fragrances being basic. I'll have to get my nose on J'adore Infinissime though lol

You are a young, relevant knowledgeable woman. You know fragrances and have a developed sense of smell and style. The kind of work I have done for years, prohibits a detectable perfume smell. Aside from that, around here, the majority of people have lessened their perfume usage. So there is less boredom, when it comes to popular fragrances. I am working less these days, so I’ve been buying perfumes for my own enjoyment. I have recently purchased 3 of the ones you’ve mentioned. I had no idea. Lol

Light Blue is popular for a reason.... I always wear it in the high heat and humidity of I agree with everything you said. my Caribbean home in the winter. However, I do agree that fragrances become dated, dull and boring, and as we evolve and change and grow, so will our taste in fragrances. BTW, love the concept of this video!

I love the basics, I love complex perfumes,I love them and wear them all!!! Fun video, though. I do understand what you mean by saying "basic". People really shouldn't be offended. Wearing a basic perfume doesn't make you a basic person,those are just perfumes who are too popular, or too simple,but that's perfectly OK. There's a time and place for everything, but is someone's goal is *specifically* not to smell basic then they ought to avoid the ones mentioned 😉 I hope people heard that part lol

I just bought Dot today because it’s discontinued. Can’t figure out what it smells like exactly, I’m sure it’s not a head turning stunner, just blend in the background, which I don’t mind at work. If I wore YSL Libra I think people would tell me to go home and shower - it’s complex but not in a good way to me.

I love the honesty! The two I agree with most are Daisy and Bright Crystal. Those two smell very cheap and juvenile to me. And I wouldn’t call them “good” perfumes, you know? What do you think about scents that are not cheap, and are really beautiful fragrances, but overdone? Think BR540/dupes or Santal 33? Stuff like that? At what point do you think those types of megahits become basic?

That's a very good question... I kind of want to say that if it's a good, unique scent profile then it wouldnt become basic but just "overplayed"... In the same way when you hear a good song too many times it gets annoying after you hear it 300 times over. But then you give it a rest for a couple years and that's when you find out if it's really a good song or not - like Queen, which to me never gets old and boring but I can't listen to them everyday either, because it's already so familiar... However there are some Justin Beiber songs I'm happy to never hear again LOL I hope that analogy makes sense 😊

I agree 100% 😄 i own light blue and i do think its basic, i will use it up because it is well made fragrance but i wouldnt buy it again. There are so many better alternatives out there like you said.

Hahahahah I loved it when you said J"Adore is a "mum" scent, as it is actually MY MOM's signature scent!! I hate to smell basic, and I agree with all your opinions, except maybe for Chloe - but not because I don't think it's been done to death, it definitely has, only because I still love it, anyway, lol. :)))

First of all, I am very happy to find a perfume reviewer who has sophisticated taste. There are too many reviewers (and wearers) out there with a truly boring, undeveloped palate. Perfume taste should mature with age and I feel that many people get “stuck” at an immature level. thank you for your honest review and for suggesting more classy options!

I love to smell different than everyone else ,that being said I do have some basic fragrances !! That air freshener vibe is a no NO for me 🤦‍♀️ I love the fact you give an alternative!! I totally agree and I have smelt most of these and they are just Basic to me and not worth buying a full bottle ,I also don’t get offended easily ,so bring it on LOL Hugs Frances 💗💗💗 PS I found you through my friend Veronica Says ,who talked about you in her last video 💕she is amazing

I've binged watched your reviews this last few days. Love the channel. This is one of the few instances where I'd have to disagree . As someone who lives in the Caribbean where a lot of fragances can feel cloying and suffocating since the temperature never goes below 65 degrees ( and that's on a "cold winter "day here) I don't mind this softer/ basic ones. It's a matter of context. On that note: would be awesome to see some fragance recommendations for very hot tropical climates

There are no boring perfumes... Only boring people. Classic perfumes like j'adore are just like classical music. Heaven for some, boring to others😉

Good video idea! I'm never gonna get rid of my Light Blue though no matter how boring it gets 😂 I would also add to the list Viva La Juicy, La Vie Est Belle, Armani Si and Flowerbomb... all pretty good scents (some of which I own and wear myself) but undeniably BASIC!

Yellow diamonds is my favorite of all time. It smells differently throughout the day and it smells differently depending if you spray a little or a lot. What is similar that I could try?

I fully agree with her lol.. I regret buying a lot of these when I first started out my perfume collection not that long ago. I don’t reach for these much and will need to sell or gift them now. Especially bright crystal. The bottle is it’s best feature lol
