Because the present perfect is to emphasize the duration (years, months) while present perfect continuos emphasizes the activity that was started in the past, is happening at the moment, and continue to happen in the future.

I have been telling my students "improvement only comes when you know your mistakes and you correct them." I now feel more convinced of my method, telling my students to spot their own mistakes. Thanks Keith.

Yeah I got that. thank you so much ,and it's really beneficial for myself to be familiar with my mistake too 😅. however I'm shocked cuz it's easy busy and how come to add with convinced but I'm pretty sure I meant convince with perhaps I read when I had just woken up ,but when it comes to your sentence"you're wrong" it's a little bit harsh :) anyway, thank you so much for making me come back to know my mistake for today.
