I'd love to visit for my pain in the butt Dr Charlie but I live in Wales, england, where my Dr just gave me Naproxen . The symptoms look awful & supposed to put on weight. So I've followed your exercises & the pain is gone. Thanks a million

Thank you for the information...I’ve been doing the exercise from your previous video. It’s working!!!

You have the best piriformis muscle vidoes. I was following other physical therapy videos on KZfaq that all talk about stretching the muscle. I had no sciatic pain before starting any stretches just had the but pain. I now have hip pain with bad nerve pain down my leg to my ankle. Going to watch all your videos on this subject and hopefully I will get some relief. I am going on a month now of this horrible pain that no matter what I do it hurts. It hurts no matter if I sit or stand and sleeping is miserable. I always wake up in misery.

I'll try your suggestions, which make perfect sense to NOT stretch already sore muscles. Thank you.

Do you know of anything you can use in your chair at work if you sit most of the day to help with piriformis pain. Is there like a seat cushion or some kind of support device that can help with piriformis?

Thank you so much. I had stopped stretching and followed the strengthening exercises from your other video and I am a lot better with the sciatica pain. I am not 100% healed though. I just saw this video and I will follow your sleeping position advise.

Wow thanks for this video. It really make sense. My periformis syndrome keeps coming maybe because of standing with more weight on my right leg than my left leg. I have a pretty bad left leg(smaller muscles). And i always put more weight on my right side. Now im having periformis syndrome again. 😔

Thank u great idea outside the box , everyone is saying stretch it but with your advice feel better in 3 days also i noticed bathrooms sitting is very bad , do you know how long it take to 100% to be perfect muscle? Also why they called it syndrome,is it chronic ?
@drcharliejohnson2 жыл бұрын
Not chronic! You can solve this... be patient and stay focused on what's working!

In a video you made to excersise rather than stretch piriformis,I find the side knee raises good but can only perform on one side ,and I cannot lift my hip off the floor when lying on my back ,I could lift my hip before having this ,what the doctor believes is piriformis syndrome,But I’m concerned about my hip being like this ,could you please share your thoughts and advise .i would very much appreciate,thanks.

Hi I'm having pain with my QL on my right-hand side but I also have a herniated disc What strengthening exercises would you recommend thank you
@drcharliejohnson Жыл бұрын
Hey Lee- any recommendation I would give wouldn’t be anymore than a guess. QL and herniated discs issues may or not be the cause. And trying to treat the diagnosis can be misleading. Treat the symptoms not the diagnosis

If so, would be happy to review your case and see if.how I can help. If you're interested- feel free to set up a time to chat by visiting www.drcharliejohnsonpt.com/apply Hang in there!

I don't seat cross legs but sitting brings more pain so how to seat to avoid pain i work seating creating and hard to focus on how i seat and not sure how
@elainepeltier20152 жыл бұрын
If I also have IT band issues should I avoid stretches as well? I don’t see any videos from you for IT band syndrome. When I sleep at night if I end up sleeping on one of my sides I wake up because of some pain in my outer thighs.

What if my piriformis is really tight, I mean not just feel it tight but its harder to cross my legs on the injured side, harder to do piriformis stretching on the bad side than on the healthy side. Is stretching still a bad idea? (I think I strained it while doing pistol squats.) Thanks for your help!
@teresadasilva2913 жыл бұрын
U need to stretch it

I lay on my side when I'm watching tv. I'll start using a pillow during that. I'm a stomach sleeper so I dont have to worry on that. After watching this video I will need to focus more on my standing position. Question...i will occasionally rub the muscle just to try and feel better..do you think this helps or aggravates the muscle? I've done my massages you recommended and felt like I was feeling some relief but tonight I'm really achy. Took motrin. But my job keeps me on my feet all day with no time to sit down and lots of walking. Today was busy so I'm guessing that is contributing to this pain tonight. Alsobmy bed base has a massage built in with different speeds. I'm a stomach sleeper and always turn it on high in attempt to take my mind off the pain. Would you say this is cause of aggravation as well? Thanks for this video btw. 👍 much appreciated

Sleeping on your stomach will eventually lead to neck and upper back problems. I know.

Why do u never mention that there is short and long piriformis? U say dont stretch in all these things yet u need to stretch if its short and strengthen if it is long.
