It's not mentioned but Yanaka Ginza is extremely nice. It's used as a movie location when directors want to show " real " Tokyo instead of the kind of artificial Shinjuku and Shibuya. December in Tokyo can be really harsh. The weather comes down from Siberia and dumps snow in the mountains but in Tokyo it is just cold, dry wind.

You are by far my favorite youtubers on the hidden gems in Tokyo. We are planning a trip in October and I am going to avoid some of the tourist traps and check out some of the places you recommended. The challenge is we only have 5 days there, and I don't know what to prioritize our very first visits to the world biggest city! lol By the way, what do you recommend for theatre and shows (or theme cafes, restaurants)? Japan is known for so many corky restaurants.
@harblife
@harblife 10 ай бұрын
I am glad I could help you out! Honestly, just pick out the things you think are the most appealing and go there! I would just advise you make sure you know the location of all these areas. Some of them are really spaced out and you must consider the travel time, especially if you only have 5 days here. Pretty much most of the areas I know in Tokyo are the ones in my videos. Just check them out and you'll see the cafes/restaurants I recommend!

Very helpful video in checking out the lesser known areas to visit. We just came back from a month long visit, our 6th to Japan. We are always looking for new, lesser known places to visit. We went to the cat temple which was a lot of fun. Also, a big thanks for pointing us to Shimokitazawa, and especially The Pizza! We had a great time thanks to all your suggestions and advice. Love the kind words thank you so much! Hope to see you contribute in future videos! :) For Sakura Season, would say Naka-Meguro and Ueno would be good spots to check out. But would only go during the week and in the middle of the day when everyone is working. Otherwise the streets will be extremely packed. If you want a secret are to check out, go to Yokohama and head to hinodecho station. Great sakura tree area and not busy like Tokyo!

Thanks for the tips! I will actually look into Nakacho and let you know what I think about it! Kamata is actually pretty cool too, but didn't know there was prostituion there.

@@harblife Kameido is nice too, especially when the wisteria are blooming at Ten Jinja, but the public bathrooms there can be really filthy.

@@danielletilliepoledance who wants to eat a pizza that is 90% toppings? you need a certain bread: sauce/topping. deep dish has too much bread. a 50/50% is best.

Deep dish can be good, but it's basically a different food, not pizza anymore
