Interesting guide, actually super helpful to see something up to date on this game, since me and a few buddies got into this recently again, helpful to see and know the newer systems! Thanks!

That is good to hear. the load times in this game are killer. If you can save time avoiding them I have done my mission.

Sorry, longer comment, but I have a few more in depth questions that consider some of your other videos as well (namely the station building / passive income one) which I hope you or others could possibly answer. This is sort of my second playtrhough, although I stopped my first one a long time ago before reaching the core & last boss and I did ignore all the economic aspects and basically just cared about my own ship. I don't think the game allows you to really make your own empire (yet?) but I'd like to dive into at least get a foothold with a bunch of passive income, so I don't have to worry about having to grind too much myself or risking a lot with just one ship. First one is in regards to the location of trade & mining operations. Of course it makes sense to send your miners to regions closer to the core, if possible, in order to benefit from the better ores & higher ore yields there. I'm however wondering if trade is affected by the geographical location as well? In a gamified way it would make sense if it did because of the linear progression of the game, but in an economic sense it obvious does not, because factories and mines should not function differently, except for maybe a higher system density towards the core or at least within the actual spiral arms (I don't really know if the game actually simulates that in regards to sector generation / placement - to me it seems very much uniform). Because if it doesn't, then it would make much more sense to keep your traders around the outer edge of the galaxy, as a couple higher end weapons will likely be enough to reduce your ambush threat to a minimum. Secondly, I'm wondering when it is the right moment to invest into stations / mines? I'm still using Naonite and move towards Trinium next (having to do the smugglers quest & AI boss next), with about 10 million (growing) into my account. I have one small trade ship and one small miner giving me some passive income & resources, but I think after moving them to Naonite territory I have to upgrade them a bit, as the ambush risk went up a fair bit. Are escorts worth the investment here? Right now it feels they might be a bit too much but I don't know how much it is worth increasing the size & capabilities of the main mission ships instead. Thirdly, are idling NPC ships (in singleplayer) safe, or can the sectors they're in get attacked when I'm not there to protect them? And lastly I couldn't really find any information on what an ambush actually looks like? Would the ship require me micro managing it to move it out of its current position by giving orders or taking control? Would it just return in a damaged or possibly destroyed state? What exactly are the results? Related to that I'm curious if weapon types matter, or if I just throw on whatever gives the most DPS, regardless if it is an actually good weapon type. I guess the question is if the ambush is just a calculated formula with given results or a real combat scenario it ends up in.

Not sure if you're still looking for answers but here is goes. I do have about 500 hours in Avorion but things change with updates. When it comes to trade there isn't much of a difference, you really need a ship with a large cargo hold and to find a good trade. Usually biogas, war robots or accelerators are good trades and can get from 500K to 1.4million depending on what the trade is. Essentially keep them where the trade goods are the most expensive, really does depend on how the factories spawn. Investing in mines and stations is always a good idea. If you get ship with a trade module you can see where the demand is highest. I would advise to get an ice mine, Water is a comodity that is usually in high demand, you can get area's going from 170-300 in demand in the right places meaning your mine will be constantly selling. You will do lots of low cost transactions getting around 20-30k per transaction but these will happen often. A mine simply needs a dock, assembly, cargo bay and crew quarters though i'd recoment adding auto turret module and shields so the mine can defend itself. It is also best to found a mine using an asteroid in a colonised sector so that the faction there can use its ships to help in the defense. Escorts are really only useful towards the higher levels of the game. At the trinium/xanion level you should simply upgrade your ship or keep it within safe/coloniesed areas to reduce ambush chance, if you have a R-miner with 10k+ cargo you can bring in 1million+ For the third no sector is safe pirates or xotan will attack them eventually but if they are strong enough or idling in the middle of nowhere they are fine for a while. NPC ships will be focused by pirates and Xotan. Ambushes will pull your ship out of its mission state to fight the ambush/pirates on the map. If your ship is strong enough it can defeat the ambush itself or you may want to switch to the ship to warp it out if not. More shields/armour/weapons are always a good idea to reduce ambush chance and increese survivability. Your ships will pay for themselves during operations so a good ship with 500K shields and 100k hull is good for most operations outside of the galatic core.
