All the stories about the noble space marines, the ceaseless hordes of chaos, filthy xenos, all of it is for this. To flavor and shape the world that tremors and quakes in haunted shadows and overpowering might in the eyes of us, the lowly men and women of the imperium fighting and dying just for another day, another moment. Praise the God Emperor, may he save us all. Praise Vox, may he remind us why we fight. Grandstanding aside, thank you Darren Davis and you too Vox, for this

The noble space marine fights so that the mere men and women of the Imperium needn't. But they must never forget that they serve and protect, not rule. That they were once mortal, that they should know what they fight for. That is the difference between them and those traitors who cower in the terrible eye. It is the duty of *all* sons and daughters of the Emperor to fight as one, so that our foes die divided.

And what does that gain you? A galaxy of unnecessary pain and suffering which only ends in death for no other reason than to grease the war machine with your blood. There will always be another battle, another horrible way to die for nothing. Your corpse on a pretty chair is just that. One more wasted life. What aid and relief can a corpse provide? Grandfather loves all his children. His gifts are blessing and panacea. A release from pain and sorrow and torment. Grandfather waits for you.

The Commissar BLAMming some hapless conscript for supposed cowardice is often a punchline for 40K fans, so it’s quite sobering to see how that situation plays out in a drawn-out, realistic way. I applaud Mr. Davies and, of course, Vox for bringing this grim tale to life.

Just some kid who wanted to be a truck driver and ended up fighting a horde of unstoppable monsters. This made me relize how scary orks can be.

Damn, I thought the orks were going to be bad. Great work on the transitions from the calm before the storm, the battle, aftermath, and ending, made a 20min video feel like a full length movie.

I recently discovered that one of my friends likes to listen to wh40k lore videos while in bed. We shared a common love for Luetin, and now for Vox too. I recommended "I am" and "Abomination" as they're my favorites and he loved them. Thank you for creating such amazing stories to be shared with my friends.

6:23 I'm sorry to be that guy. Actually, PDF don't have Commissars thats just the gaurd you are thinking of. Typically there are commissars for the paper work side of the pdf but 1 commissar might oversee 30 million fighting men of the pdf over several planets. The PDF in this short story would mostly likely never have met a Commissar before.
