If no one knows the meaning of this song it's basically her explaining her battle with Lyme Disease and being bedridden fighting to survive and she fell into depression cause she couldn't do anything "I'm too young to fall asleep" I'm too young to die. She wasn't sure if she was gonna die or survive (she got bitten by a tick in 2015 and got Lyme disease) so she released Head Above Water to explain how hard her battle was Wow this is the most likes on a comment I ever got

On September 6th, Avril Lavigne dropped a letter to her fans on her website: Thank you for waiting so patiently as I fought through and still continue to fight, the battle of my lifetime. The first song I am choosing to release is called “Head Above Water.” It is also the first song I wrote from my bed during one of the scariest moments of my life. I had accepted death and could feel my body shutting down. I felt like I was drowning. Like I was going under water and I just needed to come up for air. Like I was in a river being pulled in a current. Unable to breathe. Praying to God for Him to help me just keep my head above the water. To help me see through the stormy weather. I grew closer to Him. My mother held me. In her arms, I wrote the first song that I am releasing to tell my story. I later met a beautiful soul, Travis Clark, and we sat down at the piano and sculpted the rest of the song. Then I took it to the genius, Stephan Moccio and love what he did to the music." @@penus5892 Lyme Disease is a very dangerous and sometimes even life-threatening illness. It's not hard to inform yourself about it and trust me, it's worth it to be honest. Also, Avril has put up links in her description for foundations who are trying to find medications against it that you can donate to.

Lyme disease is one of the most horrific illnesses you can ever come across. I've had it three times--twice as a kid, and once as an adult. My hometown is called the "Lyme capital" of the United States. Everybody on my block has had Lyme disease at least once, alongside everyone in my family. One of my cousins had Lyme disease so severe that until he received treatment, he couldn't speak. Even with my most recent battle, another one of my cousins said, "join the club. Everyone in my family has Lyme disease." We even know several people who lost their animals to Lyme disease.

I was diagnosed with non hodgkin's lymphoma cancer in Oct 2018 and that song really touched my heart.
