Video taken from the worlds only flying Mosquito of the CWH Lancaster led formation at the 2013 Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum Airshow. Includes Spitfire, Hurricane and B25 Mitchell. Keep an eye on activity at Avspecs New Zealand where this Mosquito was restored by liking Avspecs

These are freaking awesome. I love the Mossy. My grandfather, Donald Rose flew them as a pathfinder during the war. Every time I see video of this beauty makes me a little reminiscent of all the stories he told me as a kid. Gone for nearly 30 years now...but I can still hear his voice ans see his smile as he talked about his beloved Mossy. :)

Unbelievable! I love the way it was filmed from take off before getting up into the air, it creates an atmosphere of actually being in the cockpit as well. The courage those pilots in WW2 must have had to fly those missions , is beyond any understanding.

Love this video. My uncle was in the RAF during WW2 as a navigator on the Mosquito. Amazing to see the same view he had.

1. Wow. What a bevvy of beautiful planes. What a thrill to be amongst them. 2. The Lancaster is so graceful - and SO vulnerable to being shot out the sky. You can understand why the Spitfire pilots were referred to as "the few", whilst the losses for the bomber boys were that much higher than the Somme that they were known as "the many". 3. It makes you grateful that the lads in places like Canada, NZ, Australia, and many other places, actually came over as volunteers from the start. Easy to not fully appreciate that debt we owe those brave lads.

When I was a young boy in the 1950s my American Air Force father (who'd flown B-24s & B-29s in his first of three wars) was stationed on the Island of Bermuda (and, yes, thanks to having to go to British schools while there I'm a Cricket player from way back). The RAF were always flying patrol & training missions to & from Bermuda. I watched many a Lancaster fly in and out. My father went on flights with them several times. He said they were a grand aircraft. Sad there are only a couple left that still fly.

@@RWBHere When I was a young lad my US Air Force father was stationed on the island of Bermuda. The RAF would come there to train. We lived in a house on the airbase which overlooked the main runway--perfect for a plane crazy kid like me. Saw a number of Lancasters come and go (not to mention an early look at Canberras). Because my father was an Air Weather Officer he interacted with all of the pilots when they came in for a briefing. He got to go for a ride in a Lancaster which he said was a good, stout plane. Though he had trained in and flew as a B-24 & B-29 pilot during the war, he during that time once rode as copilot in a B-17 being moved to another airbase. He said after the Lancaster ride he could now see first-hand it, with the B-17, were a 1-2 punch. Please keep us informed of the progress there.

Sorry did you just say, bomber boys losses higher than the Somme? You can’t be referring to the battle of the Somme in WW1 ?! Losses from bomber command 57,000 roughy killed.. of a total 125,000 aircrew overall. But 57k “bomber boys” specifically Losses from the battle of the Somme total 420,000 There were over 57,000 killed on the first DAY of the Somme. Anyway I absolutely respect the bomber boys and all aircrew etc but your statements are just factually way out.

Very nice! I´ve been in the Canadian Lancster this August - it´s not only one of two in airworthy condition but the only one you can fly with. It wasn´t cheap but worth every Cent to be in the middle of four Merlins for an hour passing the Niagara Falls. And I did to honour the crew of Lancaster LM643 / 619 Sqn PG-E crashed near St. Nazaire 25.July 1944 - I placed all from the crewmembers I could fnd the families to their position during flight - and the VR-A pilots signed them for the families. Before I forget - I´m German... ;-)

This video is superb, both for the camerawork and the flying. It's also an immense credit to the legions of restorers, financiers, maintenance staff and families who have lived with the effort to keep thse wonderful aircraft flying.......and a poignant reminder of what we owe the many thousands of young men who died in these war machines, to allow us the lives we live today. This video is a fine tribute to them.....well done 'Warbirdresto'.

My four favourite aircraft of WW2. The Mossie holds a special affection for as my Uncle was killed in one during a night navigation exercise in January 1946.

My uncle was a 19 year old mossie jockey. He used to fly the post bombing raid recce flights over Germany. Unarmed and knee trembling height above the ground. He would have loved to see this spectacle.

This was the "choir pf the merlins". I was there and it was magical. Ranks up there with Vera (Candadian Lanc) flybye with the CF18 Hornet.

I was lucky enough to see the Canadian Lancaster when it visited Britain a couple of years ago. It was with the Lancaster from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and both flew past my home at about half a mile distance, turned south, then turned south west, and headed off toward the Derwent dam, which is around 30 miles from here and where they practiced for the Dam Busters raid because of its similarity to one of the German dams. An incredible and beautiful sight, and the sound of eight Merlins is something I'll never forget.

I am definitely making the trip to Hamilton Ontario Canada to see the airshow again. I happened to be driving by Hamilton a few years ago and saw the Lancaster flying an amazing sight! But in formation with all these planes....wow...just wow.

i've been to the Hamilton museum . then an employee walked up to me and asked if i would like to go inside the aircraft . I nearly passed out but said yes , and i got some great keep sake photos .

What an absolutely amazing collection of aircraft all flying in formation together! A warbird enthusiasts dream and something most never get too see and others only get to see once. If there was someone in the tail turret of the Lancaster can you imagine the view that was?!? And every one of them powered by Merlin engines....well, maybe except for that later model Spitfire, maybe a Griffon engine... And later in the video; B-25; when I was first getting my ratings back in the 70's there was a place up in Maine, US, where you could actually get your multi rating on a B-25, I think they had a couple of them. I never got up there, got my multi on and old Cessna 310...oh well. This video made my day!

Awesome you can even hear the air brakes differential braking on the taxi out, also just flicking the brake lever (saw the air gauge move) just before raising the gear to stop the wheels spinning. Wow what a camera angle behind the Lancaster

Unique and inspiring footage. Testimony to the flying skills of those pilots keeping such a tight formation at low altitude. Would only have been improved with a separate camera ship to see more uninterrupted shots of all these magnificent planes in the same frame. Wonderful - thank you for sharing.

I've not come across this video before. Its amazing! Unique. And what an incredibly loud noise from the two Merlins. People, including myself, don't cater for how loud they are when you're actually in the aircraft!

Well each engine is 27 litres of V12 supercharged power. No silencers (mufflers), just the exhaust stubs. Makes me wonder how they could hear the intercom.

I do believe this is the day that Joe from the TV series Ice Pilots (Buffalo airways) was on board the Lanc as a guest, Im pretty sure his son Mike is on the tarmac at the end waiting for him to disembark... great shots of the spits, hurricanes, and of course the Lanc...

This is one of the most gorgeous pieces of footage I have ever seen. It gave me fucking chills. I fucking loved the part where Lancaster peels off near the end of the flight, really gave it some perspective and feel to the way these things flew.

So awesome! The mosquito was may fav since I was a kid. Now I WORK at that airport and get to refuel military jets, and the Snow Birds themselves, all while this beauty revs up and taxi's by! So cool up close!

We live not for from Mount Hope and the CWH museum so we get to see some of these birds fly over our house on occasion. Always a treat. The Firefly and the B25 are fairly regular visitors, the Lanc once in a while. We also see Tiger Moths, Harvards, Fleets, and other trainers on the wing. A nice pace to live for an airplane buff.

I am amazed that my dads generation, those boys who flew these aircraft were the same age as those people we call today - our Generation "WHY"... The names I recall being Checketts, Ladd, Parks, Bader - and of course let us not forget the Polish - Russian - Latvians etc... and Canada US NZ AUST... They were good men.... The present 'Gen Why' sadly have not much of a clue that it was these wooden aircraft, balsa - glue and screw and their able crews that gave them a future. Bravo to the maintenance crews who keep these old girls flight line ready... God Speed
