For anyone who is still having trouble with the Villager Escort missions, make sure you use the Heal Blessing. This will not only heal your characters, but I noticed that it will also heal the villagers. After I started using it, I've never had a villager go below 40%, maybe even 50%.

When I got the DLC for Awakening, I only got Owain, Tharja, Olivia, and some history maps.... I didn't get any broken armor or weapon things like what it said on the website............

I overall loved the new pack since the positives outweighed the negatives for me. I love the 3 characters they chose even if two of them are clones and I mostly had fun finishing the rest of the History Mode maps. Sure the escort missions were bullshit, but I was able to think up strategies for each mission (i.e. having a Pegasus rider with a staff that is fine-tuned with a weapon that has effectiveness against most of the enemies with a partner that can deal with enemies that can take a while to kill. It becomes a game of management that way where you constantly have to fly around managing the different corners. Sure, it wasn’t fun and I’m sure as hell not playing them again, but at least I was able to complete all of them in a reasonable amount of time and move on to the missions I actually want to do.

tbh, I think the escort missions are probably the most fun I had with this game. Most other missions I can pretty easily get through using similar strategies, but the escort missions are so stressful that it makes me play a lot better and adjust my teams to adequately finishing those maps. Yes, they were tough as hell, but they never seemed impossible to me. I guess this is just a side effect to how I laugh a lot of this kind of frustrating things off because I've given into the existential dread. But I honestly didn't like the other mission type where you have to basically recruit the villagers. The villagers transform into units there, and I don't think their kills contribute to your overall total kill count, so this means that it's harder to get an S rank when they've killed a lot of the enemies.

I wasn't a fan of the villager protection missions either, but once I equipped Lone Wolf, Potent Potion, and/or Live to Serve, and made sure I had at least one mounted unit on the field for getting to far away casters and enemy support units quickly, they went ok. I didn't find them particularly soul crushing.

I think DLC should be another game other than this 3 gamd and these guy can be in a base game. Lyn and Celica should be DLC and Ike, Roy, Eirika and more should be DLC too.

People tend to miss point, Yes there are clones. However how those characters play in terms of skills and authenticity is centred around the players focus on skill tree and weapon building also functionality of builds- example if I built Xander with say amped> Fury builder> Pair up plus, inclusion of say Minerva skill to take no effective damage and aegis and pavis in tandem onto strategic positioning, Xander would play differently towards let's say Frederick. Exact formula goes with Ryoma and Owain. You can change how characters perform and improve on uniqueness of character through skills. I love Hyrule Warriors, but combos are already there and only complexity I find is changing of weapons- abstractive though process could and should invoke reconciliation. This mindset made me see Warrior games differently, as I like the tensive giant boss fights in Pirate warriors 4 more so than nightmare mode in 3, because though it's a challenge. All you have to do is Kazuna mode four dudes and stage done. So dlcs values are dependent on what that dlc does for me in terms of gameplay and depth of my cast.

Hello Gamesbrained, I feel sorry for you that these missions ruined the game for you. But actually I didn't find it so crazy that you get some pretty hard missions at the end of the game. At this point everyone should have very overpowered generals. Even tough the missions are hard, I was able to do almost all of them first try: Two pegasus knights, two healer, Opus weapon, Minervas skill, other good skills, level ~80-100. Everyone hates these missions! But they didn't make me hate the game. They made me feel awesome as I was able to show my 300h of experience. With that said. Still a fan of your content! :)

Those missions where I have to save villagers with only a 2 character team were difficult at first. I managed to complete them with S rank by using Ryoma and Niles, or Caeda and Owain. Basically, the 2 fastest characters(faster than Lyn) in the game that can also heal, and the 2 characters that can insta kill with their combo 4.

I didn't find the villager rescue missions to be any trouble at all. Bring 2 units with high luck, lethality, and a staff. Rush down captains as soon as they spawn.

This. I hated the Villager defense maps. Especially since I was going for Lissa's Axe. It downright infuriated me, and made me take a massive break from it. I still got it though, and it looks beautiful but it was so annoying to actually get the weapon, scroll, and the opus

Ehhh I didn't have that bad of a time with the "escort" missions.(THey are really defend the tower missions) though I did get irritated that they require you to take along someone who can heal. It's rough when a single game type mode kills an experience for you in these games. I know they were a few that made me groan in hyrule warriors.

That's a bummer, but you have to review the whole game, so your frustration is reasonable. I haven't played FE: Warriors yet, so I don't know if the escort missions are required, but if they are, it does make sense that they reduce the overall quality of the game. If it was optional you could go "this is horrid, but you can ignore it". That's how I feel about My Fairy at times in Hyrule Warriors, but it's optional, so when I get frustrated, I can just stop and come back later. If I was forced to do it as the core experience, I'd be harsher with the game. That said, if you would to take your favorite qualities of Hyrule Warriors and FE: Warriors into a new game, what would you choose? From your videos, and my play of Hyrule Warriors, I find FE has cleaner mechanics, but HW has a much better cast. I wouldn't mind seeing a Kiseki Warriors or a Ys/Legend of Heroes matchup.

I dealt with the problems anyway. I completed fire emblem warriors and it’s dlc. I agree about the villager missions. In a warriors game should not be in a warriors games. We want to hack and slash a bunch of enemies/defend bases while defeating enemies. But the villagers is a big no no. Escort mission or defend a villager mission. Should not be in a Musou game. But now in 2022. There’s a fire emblem warriors three hopes releasing this year on June 24.

Hey GB, I don’t know you personally and I had no hand in developing the game, but I would like to apologize that you had such a problem with Villager Defense Mode. I had the same issue and it took me much longer to beat the DLC than I expected, and I also haven’t touched FEW since. In any case, I appreciate the review, and I encourage you to play a good, enjoyable, less frustrating game. You deserve a break.

In summary, the devs utterly despise 3DS players who aren't rich enough to have a Switch. It's the only explanation for them animating Lyn and Camilla's boob flapping over the MANY capes and loose cloth items in the game all of which are far more notable than the character's chests along with pre-rendering every single character's battle intro and victory cinematic so absolutely no costumes besides the different gender options and Masked Lucina get shown and removing even the OPTION of a taunt button all on top of having missions that can only possibly be completed fairly in multiplayer mode, which I'm fairly certain doesn't exist in the 3DS version, and even if does, I'm screwed because I'm the only one in my family with any interest or skill in Warriors games.

Geez, stop overreacting. Yes, those escort missions are shit, but not to the point that your soul gets shattered.
