On April 28, 2024, the dances of Gejaraku, Yukyu-ren, Kikusui-ren, and Tassui-ren at Tokushima Castle Awaodori 2024 held at Tokushima Central Park. This festival has been held since 2021 and this year marks its third edition. It is one of the largest Awaodori events, following the main Awaodori held in summer, the "Autumn Awaodori" held in autumn, and the "Hanaharu Festa" held in spring.
Awaodori (Awa Dance) is one of the most famous traditional performing arts in Japan, with its history of more than 430 years. "Awa" is the old feudal administration name for Tokushima Prefecture, and "odori" means "dance". Awaodori Festival in Tokushima City is held from August 12 to 15, attracting over 1.3 million tourists every year.
