Yatto-sa! Yatto yatto! If you enjoyed this video, don't forget to hit that like button, leave a comment, and share it with your friends☺Thank you!! 🐰Sorry we couldn't show every ren in the video. If you have a favorite ren, let me know in the comments! 🐰For the paid stages and some other stages, you'll need a ticket. But there are plenty of spots where you can enjoy without one! Just a heads up, the Soh-Odori (Group Finale) is exclusive to the paid stages. 🐰Heard that the 200,000 yen ticket gets you a comfy sofa seat, some insights, and a meal made from local ingredients. 🐰Due to the typhoon's impact, the Awaodori on the next day, August 15th, has been fully canceled.

Awa Odori is Japan's most famous summer festival, attracting more than a million spectators each year. People in Tokushima practice all year long for this festival. This year, the festival was unfortunately hit by a typhoon.

This is absolutely stunning. Bless you for braving the rain and those cheerful women dancing in the torrential downpour. Lifting your camera during the finale to capture the image of 1000 dancers was very appreciated. The commentary with cultural notes, you have simply outdone yourself. I do not know if the captions are the work of Mrs or Mr Time to Travel but they are superb and it's so nice to have a context to help understand. But for all this praise, there's one thing missing: why are Mrs and Mr Time to Travel not in the celebrity dance ren? 😊

I was lucky enough to live in Tokushima for 2 years and attended the festival both summers. Very different experiences with sweltering clear weather the first year and to=ential rains the second. Although everyone was soaked to the bones, there was no dampening of spirits. Although one must buy tickets to watch the professional teams, there is plenty to watch h on the streets, and bystanders are encouraged to join in. For months before the actual festival, practice can be heard every evening

Yes, there are groups that invite participants to dance along! ☺️ You can even borrow costumes or get taught the dance steps. This Awa Dance in Tokushima is among the more prestigious festivals in Japan, so there are many attendees who prefer to just watch. However, for more casual Bon dance festivals, anyone is welcome to join and dance. Thank you🥰🥰

Thank you for your comment! It's great to hear that seeing the festival is on your bucket list. Yes, there's a saying in Japan: 'Odoru aho ni miru aho; onaji aho nara odoranya son son,' which means 'Those who dance are fools, and those who watch are fools; if both are fools, you might as well dance.'😆
