About the Film
Le Gouffre is the first animated short film produced and directed by Lightning Boy Studio, a young creative team based in Montreal. Released in February 2015, the project had first gained a lot of attention following the huge success of its Kickstarter campaign, which allowed the creators to finance the movie’s post-production. Many were impressed by the passion and determination of the small team of three animators, who spent more than two full years creating the 10-minute film.
As of now, Le Gouffre has been selected in more than 60 festivals around the world and won nine awards, four of them for “Best Animated Short”. For the complete list of selections and awards, please head over to the Awards page.

The saddest moment wasn’t when Zane fell into the abyss, it was when he realized he wasn’t going to make it and he accepted death without hesitation, as long as his friend lived. That’s what made me cry. That moment when he pulled out the flare and smiled, the smile telling his friend that everything was going to be okay and he was ready for death.

Two young guys stands for courage,faith and hardwork.....they did what they always wanted to do...without asking for help from anybody else..the storm stands for problems in our lives..but still they managed to find out the oppurtunity in that dangerous situation through immense will power....and if u keeps on doing what your heart always desired...those who ignored u..will eventually end up joining you...surely the sacrifice was made...but the guy who died faced it with complete fearless attitude...he accepted it as it is..and left lighting up the faith in others hearts...thats how every one of us should die.

0:46 clouds cover the sun, making the atmosphere dark to indicate the helplessness 1:12 clouds open up casting a ray of sunshine indicating hope Kudos to the whole team for such amazing detailing . These techniques helps the audience to immerse emotionally into the movie.

For anyone bummed out by the ending, here is an alternate one: The two dudes are running up the bridge in the rain. Blue Shirt Man makes it to the cliff ledge. Yay! But uh oh, Blondie is still stuck on the bridge. Good thing one of them has a rope (because if they're smart enough to build an entire bridge, they would be smart enough to bring AT LEAST one rope with them. It's just a helpful thing to have on a quest). Blue Shirt Man throws the rope to Blondie (or vice versa). He grabs a hold, and they begin the dangerous process of pulling Blondie up the last little bit of the cliff. It will be hard, but that's what keeps the audience on their feet. Finally! Blondie is safe on top of the ledge with Blue Shirt Man. Phew! That was a close one. Blondie shoots the flare gun, and the villagers rejoice. I know it's probably not as symbolic, but gosh darnit it's the ending we all wanted.

@@l.lwayhtoo9019 Hah, I agree. In this case, I don't think that the ending made much sense. The brothers forgetting to bring a rope and "giving up" so easily is out of their character. They are smart people, so this a bit of a plot hole to me. Also making the ending sad JUST BECAUSE the the creators want to pull on your heartstrings is not good story telling in my opinion.

Continue the story. Where we're they headed? What was the mission about ? Did they have wives and children? Tell us the rest. The story was powerful. It relayed a message of hope.
