Great info and walk through. Especially the last segment regarding effects loops. I run some effects through the front of the amp and some through effects loop.

Just purchased one of these. Looking to run a noise suppessor (Boss NS-2) in the effects loop of one of the heads. I think it's possible. Gonna give it a go when the Headbone arrives. Thanks for the great video!

how would the headbone work with 2x stereo only amps and a stereo cab. would i need 2 of them for L/R?

I have a Marshall Silver jubilee head + cab and a Fender Champion 100 combo . I really love the clean tone of the champ, so in case of a gig I would like to switch between those. Do I only have to plug in the guitar cables into the amp, because the amps have two individual speakers?

Hey Carl! In the setup you described, you could sit your Marshall head on top of the Fender combo and then use the Headbone to switch between them (using the cab section of the combo). In terms of guitar cables, you need to plug everything directly into the Headbone. It works by switching the amp inputs along with the amp outputs, simultaneously. Check out the diagrams in my video again for a visual representation of how this all works. I hope that helps!

The Headbone VT is for tube amps only. The manual says that you can damage things if you use a solid-state amp with it. So, the Fender Champion should not be used with the Headbone VT.

Should I be able to use an atenuator between the cabinet and the headbone? the idea is cracking the tubes of the amps within a reasonable recording volume Can this box allow both amps to run simultaneously? Lile mixing both clean channels from the amps into one cabinet

Yes, you could indeed run an attenuator (or load box) on the speaker output. Just make sure you always have a proper load attached to the heads your using. Cheers ; )

Is it just for tube amps for studio? Can I switch between a boss katana (for cleans) and 6505+ (for distortion) on stage?

From memory, the manual suggested that it was only for tube amps. It appears they made a "TS" model of the Headbone for switching between tube and solid-state heads though. But probably the best thing to do would be to contact Radial support to ask them directly. Cheers!

Does that unit allow you to send a signal from BOTH heads into ONE cabinet or only one at a time (A/B)?

Yeah, to clarify, it's just a switcher. You can only use it with one head at a time. The easiest way to run two heads at once is to get a stereo 2x12 or 4x12 cab, and then run each head into either side. Hope that helps!

My problem is this: I run an AxeFx in stereo to a stereo matrix poweramp then into a left cab and a right cab. I’m trying to figure out how to switch from the AxeFx/matrix rig to a fryette stereo poweramp at the click of a switch but using the same two cabs left and right. Most switchers I have been checking out can’t take in two channels from a stereo poweramp nor split out to the two separate L/R cabs while playing through either poweramp! Anything I should be checking out??

Yeah... I'm not familiar with a device that will do what you want, sorry. My main question would be: Why are you needing to switch out the power amp? I assume an AxeFX through a stereo cab setup will give you virtually any sound you want. However, if you're just looking to A/B two devices... It will be a lot easier to do this before the power amp. Running two modellers into a line level switching box, for example, than into the same stereo power amp. Hope that helps ; )

@@guitariq thanks for your input. To answer your initial question about switching poweramps, you’re correct I get many good tones out of the AxeFx/matrix rig but sometimes it’s unreliable. Just the other day after no tweaking of anything I had to go and reassign ALL my modifiers because the expression pedal wasn’t seeing the needed “Ext1” device. Sometimes it’s nice to be able to click a switch and play through a different poweramp , same pedal loops via RJM switcher, and carry on. Also I’m not running two modelers it’s just AxeFx into matrix SS poweramp. You’re saying to put a switching box in there? That’s the idea but each poweramp has to share the sam left and right cabs. Ugh I’m fkd lol
