Full day highlights from all the movements at RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire from 7th February 2022.
It would be a very strange day at RAF Brize Norton if you don't see at least five movements and they can start around 0800. As the station is responsible for AAR (Air to Air Refuelling) for RAF and Nato across across UK and European Airspace. It is the RAF's largest station (with regards to personnel) with approximately 5,800 Service Personnel, 1,200 contractors and 300 civilian staff.
With its mixed fleet of aircraft, RAF Brize Norton provides rapid global mobility in support of UK overseas operations and exercises, as well as AAR support for fast jet aircraft both on operations and in support of UK Homeland Defence. Here is a list of who is based here:

We located ourselves at both ends of the base, which recently, have had runway number changes. Brize's runways numbers are 07/25. To access runway 07, which features at the start of the video, it uses conveniently placed public footpaths across pleasant farm lands, to which will take you side by side of the fence perimeter of the base. The access is public right of way and it is a perfect spot to view departures and arrivals on 07.
Runway 25 is an exciting spot to view arrivals and aircraft on approach. The only problem is parking. Please do not block the crash gates and my advice is to park your car legally in the nearby village of Carterton. It is only about a 10 minute walk and you can be assured your car is parked sensibly.
The Atlas C.1 A400M is able to carry a 37-tonne payload over 2,000nm to established and remote civilian and military airfields, and short unprepared or semi-prepared strips. It is capable of operating altitudes up to 40,000ft and impressive low-level flying capabilities. It can carry 116 troops, vehicles and can even accommodate a Chinook! The A400 is powered by four 11,000shp EuroProp International TP400 turboprops.
The C-17 Globemaster III is a longrange, heavy-lift strategic transport aircraft that can operate close to a potential area of operations for combat, peacekeeping or humanitarian missions worldwide. It can transport 45,360kg of freight more than 4,500nm while flying at altitudes above 35,000ft. The aircraft’s design enables high-angle, steep approaches at relatively slow speeds, allowing it to operate into small, austere airfields and onto runways as short as 3,500ft long and just 90ft wide. The C-17 is powered by four 40,400lb st (179.90kN) Pratt & Whitney F117-PW-100 turbofans.
The Voyager is the RAF’s sole air-to-air refuelling (AAR) tanker and also operates as a strategic air transport. The aircraft is in service as the Voyager KC.Mk 2, equipped with two underwing pods for refuelling fast jets, and as the Voyager KC.Mk 3, with an additional centreline hose for use by large aircraft. Although it ranges worldwide, Voyager remains home-based at Brize Norton. One aircraft is always available on the Falkland Islands, primarily in support of the Typhoon QRA jets, but also available to the Hercules. Another of the type operates the regular airbridge to and from the Falklands. Voyager is making a major contribution to Op Shader, offloading fuel to RAF F35s and Typhoons, and a variety of Coalition jets, including US Marine Corps Harriers and F/A-18 Hornets. It is powered by two 71,100lb st (316kN) Rolls-Royce Trent 772B turbofans.
The Hercules is the RAF’s primary tactical transport aircraft and in its current C.Mk 4 and C.Mk 5 versions of the C-130J-30 and C-130J, respectively, has been the backbone of UK operational tactical mobility tasks since it was brought into service in 1999. It is frequently employed to operate into countries or regions where there is a threat to aircraft; its performance, tactics and defensive systems make it the ideal platform for such tasks. It is powered by four 4,700shp RollsRoyce AE2100D3 turboprops.
