That’s the best water bomber..the water distribution is well spreads with the down pours caused by both rotor..the best chopper for the job n for me it’s the best looking chopper 👍🏼🇳🇴

we had two in the area for that fire. it was crazy that there were over 200 separate fires at 1 point the lightning was absolutely crazy.

The Billing services Chinook helicopter comes from Hemet-Ryan airport whenever there’s a fire located in Hemet Southern California I see most of the time now fly over my house.

Max Mason I live near Hemet Ryan Airport every time there’s a fire I always see that helicopter lift off from the base it’s super Bad ass and it’s a cool sight.

Agreed but first off how you gonna get it there? I mean they built this thing for a reason because of its need wherever it is. Would kinda suck if you bought this aircraft and fire breaks out and they say call in the chopper oh wait the chopper is in australia. Then wtf are we paying for it?

I thought that the Sky Crane was very effective in firefighting, but this is massive, i wish greek goverment used something like that in firefighting. It would fit perfectly the landscape and prevent disasters like this summer

Make a CH-47 in a guise similar to Thunderbird 2, with multi purpose detachable pods for various operations scenarios. Seems a logical progression for a proven product! What do you think?

that snorkel speed is crazy, the s70 fire-hawk only has a 1000 gallon tank and that takes 60 seconds to fill up. Somehow you guys have managed to double to capacity but at the same time cutting the load speed in half.

The difference is the power source between the two. The s70 Firehawk is utilizing a 7.5hp 400Hz electric motor and pumping up a 6" hose. The Chinook utilizes a 50hp hydraulic power supply to a 10" hydraulic driven refill pump.

With a full tank OK but what of a half filled tank? Even with bafles I wonder if the water sloshing around has any balance effect or causes any metal structural stresses. A C130 crashed recently in Australia. I saw one had crashed in California some time ago where both wings tore off due to structural failure.

These tanks are designed to be partially full at all times. lots of structural analysis and sign off from structural DER's prior to FAA certification. Baffles are designed to gradually move water horizontally but can empty from the vertical orientation in an emergency in just over 3 seconds. Cheers!

Not a chinook...that's a BV-234. The CH-47 Chinook is the US Army designation for a BV-234. Semantics, sure, but correct.

If it was up to me I'd have 10 Chinook fire fighting helicopters on the tarmac in El Dorado county call the team The Three musketeers. Come on leaders of the eldorado county it's only 75 million I'd rather be prepared instead of scared Maybe without many on the tarmac we can get home insurance again that's affordable.
