I had these types of leds. They don't need an resistor that easily

usb delivers 5 volt there is 2 leds in series with forward voltages around 2.5 volt so it shouldnt be a problem. You pretty much only need resistors if you go way over the forward voltage of the LED to limit current.

These leds he used wont burn out on 5 v. Not likely. The colour change leds or multi colour as some call them, from personal experience they are quite sensitive and burn out quicker than normal leds.

Worse than no resistor is that the two LEDs are in parallel. Notice that the red is way brighter than the blue due to its lower voltage drop. So for those of you that don't know you take your power supply voltage and subtract the led voltage (2 for red 3 for blue if you have to guess) and divide that number by the amps you want (likely 0.03 or less for a little one like these) and you get the number of ohms you need. If your worried about efficiency you can put several in series and use one resistor. Once they have a resistor in series you can put groups of led-resistor chains in parallel

Where did you get 220v from its freakin usb
@complexeddrummer Жыл бұрын
It's 5V out of the USB, but yes, the circuit isn't set up correctly. You COULD do it running the two colors in series but whichever LED is second would be underpowered voltage-wise. Best to use resistors on each as a voltage drop from 5V to 3.7V and 2V respectively.
@drflavorflave Жыл бұрын
@@complexeddrummer those led diodes will definitely not last long and will burn out, but at least it's not the 220v the dummy in the original comment though. It would have immediately popped them lmao. They should also have used a female USB or micro USB port, so they could unplug and plug it in. Also if you want the easy ability to turn it off and on, add a low voltage switch

The blue needs 2.5-3.7 volts and the red needs 1.6-2.0 volts. If you run them off 5V, best to use separate resistors to drop the 5V to the necessary voltage for individual, parallel circuits
