Really, really unbelievable footage. I didn’t think I could possibly be more impressed with this airplane, but you really see the complete control this bird has in truly absurd flight situations. And this is 30 year old technology. If we had the will and the funding, I can’t even fathom the sort of aircraft we’d be seeing in ten years. I’m afraid, for all it’s incredible maneuverability and technology, the Russians probably had the better approach focusing on extremely fast, cheap fighters with insanely advanced infrared tracking. Oh well ...

The raptor tail moves more degrees than any other plane, it's in the tail angle and regime of movement (each second in turn), and style of piloting. Which influences the wing and fuselage shape.

The f22 has higher rate of substain turn an more powerful engines more than Russia at 35,000 pounds of thrust per engine. Russia only has better slow maneuvering advantage but that's useless with multiple air craft bleeding all your energy. The Russian planes have HMS an infrared but that's the only advantage. In a fight the pilot uses a "O" to center its bogey and the EO-IRST module locks the target the pilot is looking up at. The ET is capable of turning a solid 45 degrees straight off the rail heading to its target. First introduced mid 90s. scary shit.

This plane is mesmerizing to watch - also, trying to figure out how it's so manoeuvrable is nigh on impossible!

not a stealth fighter so it wouldn't have time to maneuver because it would be already blown out of the sky. however vs anything else id have to say best non stealth fighter for sure.

@@mrmike1183 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pa2lisSV1LrLm3k.html And stealth is already obsolete nowadays, the new radars can detect the F22 before the F22 can shoot.

IroV yeah I’ve seen that video before awesome dogfight but f22 wasn’t running its rebound stealth signals with its APG system. They don’t show other countries their true potential for a reason.

@@mrmike1183 Because the F22 stealth would have been useless against the Rafale. It was a fair dogfight and the Rafale won easily, the French don't show everything about the Rafale too to let the arrogant americans think they are the best in the world. That's how wars are won, let the other people think you're weaker and when they attack surprise them.

Any non-military geeks out there like me, if you’re still seeing this, watch the MIT Opencourseware special lecture on the f-22 raptor. The lecturer is an Air Force test pilot and really goes into every aspect of the flight controls and technology behind this machine, and is one of the best lecturers i’ve seen in any of MIT’s videos. Mind blowing engineering
