The Kioti DK 4710 HST TRACTOR gets a workout today moving logs to prepare for processing boiler firewood with the Eastonmade 22mb firewood processor. Getting the right size logs for making boiler wood is necessary for the right size wood and for that you need the right size logs...we fetch them right now!

It all needs to be done at some point and with machinery it IS different.... it is called more volume and is more efficient and more productive. I wish I could just snap my fingers and have it all done and neat for you but it does not work that way. I have two other full time jobs also so I do what I can when i can. I am a boy and they are my toys, I would not do the work if it was not fun. If that was the case I would be like 95% of workers that hate there jobs and don't want to be there...I love what I do every day in all 3 of my jobs all 12-16 hours I work every day.

I had 2 hours this morning, and that's before the temps got up to the 80s, which was supposed to be mid-90s today. Took me 30 minutes of prep-work before i got started and was able to do a video, too. Just a little bit a day, and it eventually all goes away. 😉👍

I always thought, "Oh, I only have two hours, no sense in getting started, I'll have to stop soon, anyway," I have wasted so must time over the years doing (actually, not doing) it that way. I have to take your method to heart. I know I will feel much better that I got done what I took the time to do, even though it wasn't a lot, it was still something, as you said. Thanks for the "kick in the butt".

Are you familiar with the piece of equipment I was recommending? If you had a trailer with a knuckle boom loader parked next to your wood pile you could make a sort left in the pile, a sort on the trailer, and a sort on the opposite side of the trailer. When you were done, and moved in front of your log deck, you would have the equivalent of a log truck picking from the trailer and loading directly on your live deck with all of the same type of wood. Wouldn't that be more efficient than going back and forth from your log piles with a front-end loader grabbing a couple of logs with each trip trying to load the deck? Probably less maintenance and wear and tear than you have on your tractor and front-end loader now, with a lot less work. The biggest drawback is the extra cost for the equipment. I had one, it worked great.

When I load or unload bales (big rounds) I like the truck parked at a 90 degree angle from the direction the bales sit on the trailer. Minimum tractor travel with room to adjust and "square up" to the trailer when placing the bales. Kind of hard to explain without using a video....Don't know how this has anything to do with your video, but I think you might get the drift of what I am saying. (maybe) Have a great day!!!!!!

Why don't you get one of those trailers, with a knuckle boom loader, that you pull behind a tractor? It would make loading your deck and sorting your wood piles a lot more efficient.

Are u gonna make a cutoffs and cookies bin. Or do u just put the ugly wood in ibcs to stack up and move later to the boiler. People saying u don't cut and split as much by hand anymore. i say If u have the tools use them. Working smarter not harder gets alot more done. After u throw around thousands of tons of firewood in your life it wears on your body. It would be dumb to not use the the tractor and processor as much as possible. Idk why a few people just want you to bust your back cutting lifting splitting and tossing wood like u used to. When u can process a full semi load in a day if u wanted to. Those who don't do firewood think stacking a facecord is gonna waste a whole day or being out in the rain will make u melt. Gotta be tough to do firewood. Even tougher to make a living doing it. Most people don't want to do the work thats why they buy firewood in the 1st place. New wedge hopefully will make alot smaller pieces and way less resplitting

Yup, there are a lot of people that I call "youshoulders"! The tell me what i should do but do not do 1% of the volume I do and have no idea what I do each day but at least they watch and that is why I make videos. And yes firewood is work no matter how you do it...good machinery helps a ton!
