Great Interview. I was at the Atlanta Race in RC's last year on the 125 (250 now). He went through the corner in front of me so fast he made the other pros look like they were standing still. It's something I will never forget. He won, of course and did a whip right over my head! The next year he was on the 250 (450 now) and he had trouble in the whoops and McGrath won. Eventually RC got the timing down on the whips and he was unbeatable.

His riding platform and stature made him look like he was going slower than he was. I watched him at redbud for years, and you’d swear guys were going faster, and Ricky would be tracking them down. His race pace was unreal.

Don’t let Ricky fool you. He spent 10 years making his competition say “man one more bump, one more whoop, and he would have crashed”. Nobody has ever been MORE talented than RC. Some guys have had more bike skill. But then again, is that only because Ricky didn’t practice that kind of stuff? He was sendy without the crashing somehow. Ricky was so stable on the bike, it made him look like he was going slower than he was. I watched him run James Stewart down in the sand whoops at RedBud, and pass him on the outside. It was insane.

Dirt Bike Magazine late 70s Bob Hanna got me interested in dirt bike.... Ricky didn't just change his ride height. His team (Kawasaki) after 1.5 tough seasons of 250. Sat down with Ricky and flat out asked him. What do you need... Ricky told then how he wanted his bike set up... Every bike, MFG, factory team he rode for.... set up his bike up the same as his Kawi.

Ricky still has his endorsements. It will be huge for kawi to get Ricky back. He mentioned not touching his principle or investments... how many kids these days even know what that means

James stewart and ricky was the all time baddest to watch.... those two would fly neck and neck and not spare a inch for eachother.... the faster ricky tried to go james was right tryin to go faster
