I like when I'm watching what someone's doing rather than watching someone's face explaining what they're doing. I feel like a lot of people just like to look at themselves, hear themselves talk, and bask in the glory of the attention they receive, and the thing they claim to be passionate about is really just the thing that caught on and got them the most views. When someone can showcase their craft without including their ego I feel like it shows true mastery and genuine passion for their craft.

Nice work! I did my 01 a couple summers ago. I believe this was the best time for Hondas 2 strokes ever. This era of bikes will always be my favorite. Wish I could show you a photo of mine. ❤After putting your hands on every part and the work and time involved, the appreciation and bond you now have with the bike is even more special. My guess is this bike no matter what will be dear to your heart for a long time. Nice video!

@JackF I love old bikes. The older they are the better. I have a 1976 RM250A with 6 inches of front suspension and 4 inches of rear suspension. Such a fun bike to ride. I am doing a full factory OEM restoration on my 1983 Honda Xl600R Dual Sport. $7,000 in on that restoration. I also have a 1992 Kawasaki KX250 two stroke and a 2001 Yamaha TTR 150.

Bike looks amazing, love working in the living room 👍 what was the 2 holes drilled in the side of the piston for? I'm guessing lubrication to the wrist pin but I don't know... actually I watched again and looks like the holes in piston where on the exhaust side, so would not be for lubrication, let me know what they are for.... awesome build tho👍👍

Hey thanks so much, Andy! It's to lube and keep cool the exhaust bridge on the cylinder which are notorious for cracking. See this: blog.wiseco.com/two-stroke-how-to-relieving-the-exhaust-bridge-and-drilling-lubrication-holes

Rad build, I did a 76 yz100 when I was a kid put an 80 wheel set on it and it looked like YZ 80 with a lot of travel and a little easier to maneuver if you're younger stepping up till 125 but I had a 175 jug that fits on the 100 yes 175 cylinder head and piston will fit on 100 engine bottom end so I was racing 175 in a 80 cc class, who are the monster back sprocket starting out in second gear with a big trench digger and I'll be spraying trail mix on everybody pulling three or four bike lengths before the first left turn, braaap braaat, well till I got caught LOL sold it to my buddy and got a maico magnum 250 brurrrt" burrrt" with life of power

Drilling the piston skirt is an old dessert racing trick from the 1960's(and it's only done on the intake side)It was often combined with a horn button converted to as kill switch so that you could send a burst of cool air when going wide open on the throttle for extended periods of time.

Its always good to see people taking care in what they do and being meticulous about it. This video was very enjoyable because the presenter focussed on the build to the exclusion of unnecessary narration, allowing the video to speak for itself. Most people totally screw up the exhaust flap and they get the back pressure wrong and the power band is totally jacked up. When that 250R is tuned right, it will dump your ass every time you shift! Also, piston height is critical, it varies in different year models. 1 year off and you can either have too much clearance, or bump the head when it warms up! This is one of my favorites over the years, Yes, I said "one" of my favorites.
