Hey resin friends :)
in todays video we are playing with resin again and I so so much love the end result! We will use a wide range of materials covering MDF boards, construction foam along with plaster and of course acrylics and resin. No glitter this time...sorry...or was there??? ;) Tune in and find out what I did on the process and if you get inspired make sure to show me your results!!
Please leave a comment if you have any questions :)

Hey :)) noch ein deutsches Wort :)) and it was spelled correctly :DD So sweet!!! Super happy you liked it and I was surprised how well the plaster went with the resin...I will play with this concept more in the future for sure!!! If scaled up really large there is no need to cut the foam which reduces the work intensity even more :)

@MKLGRMFineArt
@MKLGRMFineArt 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Ahmed, can you tell me which resin you use? Well I myself don't use the heat gun that often. I only use it pretty much in the early stages when I want to create lacing effects with the color. If you just use it to remove the rising air bubbles from the resin then a torch is better. It does not warm the resin that much as it produces more pressure and pops the bubbles along with the heat it emits. You can also liquify resin a bit more with the heat when it already started curing (getting thicker) but as far as I know it might change its chemical behaviour if it is heated above 40°C once it is starting to cure. Normally the resin itself should level itself. Why not try such a project here? There was no heat gun needed. I colored the resin and poured it on one go - as you could see in the video. I torched it to remove the bubbles but thats it. Other than that I really did not do much more to it.

Beautiful! 😍. How long do you let everything dry before you put on Resin? I’ve heard that acrylic paintings need at least 3-4 weeks to cure before coated with Resin - and i wonder how that would be with plaster?
@MKLGRMFineArt
@MKLGRMFineArt 5 жыл бұрын
Never cared for that...once the paint is dry I go for the next steps. Normally next day depending how thick the pour was...same with the plaster. It was dry the next day so I was good. When you work on canvas for example the paint has still time to do its thing as rest amount of water can go through the fabric or whatsoever...never had any issues so far.

@MKLGRMFineArt

base layer was a metallic acrylic paint on the plaster. In the resin I mixed a little bit of the same color but just enough to have it still translucent to give it that water-effect. I did not add water to the resin (which you never should do anyways)

Well plaster is the medium. Don't know if there are other words for it. It is a white powder that you mix with water and it thickens over time. Can be used for sculptures or to seal cracks in walls and such...pretty common stuff, not really an art material though. Sure you have seen it as well :)
@fernandorios2323

MKL GRM Fine Art have you tried mixing just regular acrylic paint with resin ? Does it have the same effect?

yes I did but only take about 5-10% of the amount compared to the resin. If you want a transluscent resin it works better with pigments. But you can use acrylics with the resin :)
