I love the rocket stove inspired type design. Simple burn tray and not a burner plate with a lot of complex disks, columns, air nozzles and such.

In the workshop where the machines are located, the smell of machine oil is not very noticeable)

It is made to heat a work space with waste oil: like used cooking oil, motor oil, or other. It is not legal in a house in some areas. There are other waste oil heaters builds that use forced air from an electric blower that burn a blue flame and complete combustion. This design does not have: 1. complete combustion, inefficient. 2. Takes the air from the room to feed the burn. Not effective, as it takes the hot air from the room and sends it up the chimney.

So you made a small version of a smudge pot. If you would have not restricted the exhaust flow. It would have chuffed once it got hot enough and burned even more cleanly. I know this because I have a vintage smudge pot.
