The Marvel world is a bit weird. Heroes like the Avengers, who've gained powers from unnatural ways (accident, technology, science experiment) are celebrated by the public. But Mutants, who've gained their abilities naturally (through their genes), are hated by humans.
@corvus1970
@corvus1970 2 күн бұрын
Yup. In the comics, people who have gained their powers through "unnatural" means are often called "mutates," and you are correct: They tend to have broad acceptance, like Captain America, the Fantastic Four, and so on. Some others, however, like Hulk and, to a lesser degree, Spider-Man, tend to be feared or distrusted.

First off: "France is gonna be really mad to see that Wolverine messed up their present to us." Oh the laugh I just laughed. That was _really_ good. Thank you for that one. "This dude looks like a personified wolf." Despite a significant size advantage, a _lone_ Wolf will tend to shy away from a Wolverine. Wolverines are Mustelids, relatives of Badgers, Skunks, Minks, etc. They are extremely powerful for their size, and ferocious. They can kill prey many times their size, and far larger predators will at times decide that messing with a Wolverine's kill isn't worth the risk.

34:45 you may have missed it but Mystic sabotaged Cerebro. Jean Grey found the alteration, removed the "toxic" addition to Cerebro. That is why she was not injured like Charles was. He was affected by the sabotaged equipment. 36:10 in the comics Wolverine is in YELLOW SPANDEX. So that was a poke at the comics. You can also see it in the older X-Men cartoons. So, Marvel was on fire in the early 2000s when it came to 2nd movies. Spider-Man 2, X-Men 2, and Blade 2 are all fantastic movies that improve upon the previous films in multiple ways. The trilogy is a good call Emme. It's not the best interpretation of the comics but I think myself and a lot of people have been unfairly tough on them. Cinepals recently did new reactions on the X-Men movies and it's been nice to see their enthusiasm and takes on it. I've seen a bunch of reactors go in fully blind on X-Men 97 and they get by just fine. The show is self referential, but it also explains whatever it needs to. The original was made in 1992 but it was an adaptation for kids, influenced by network standards of censorship and guidelines. Honestly there was so much going on in the old show that it was a lot to wrap my head around. It was full of unusual things. It was a lot of content too. There was also a 1994 Spider-Man series that I liked even more! It crossed over with the X-Men series at one point. That pilot episode and many after had me going ballistic with enthusiasm and hype. I mostly read Spider-Man comics as a kid and it was like a dream seeing it adapted in a mostly faithful way. I had a hard time deciding which was better. For me I had to have both. They helped build my love for Marvel.

The sad part is Senator Kelly isn’t entirely wrong in being afraid. Mutant powers are random and could easily be ridiculously dangerous without the mutant even being conscious of it. Like, imagine if a child is born that is just a walking nuclear reactor or has some kind of power that explodes people’s brain when the mutant gets upset. They can be effectively walking WMD’s and it could easily be argued that to protect the public the government should do *something* to protect everybody. Obviously it shouldn’t be sending giant robots to exterminate them or whatever, but maybe set up training through and organization like Xavier’s school or a general accounting of how their powers work and if they’re dangerous

Welcome to the X-Men. I’d been reading the X-Men comics for nearly 20 years when this movie came out, and it was so exciting to see these characters brought to the big screen so well. Although they rearranged the characters’ backstories to make them fit into one story (eg Bobby was one of the original X-Men, and Rogue had started off as a supervillain) it all came together very well. The scene at the end where a badly wounded Logan chooses to give his healing factor to save Rogue’s life was taken straight from the comics, and it really made me happy to see. Anywho, glad you liked the movie as well. Thanks for sharing your reaction 😊. If you choose to watch more of these, you’ll find that the quality can vary a lot, from excellent to sufficiently entertaining to … well … I personally was disappointed. Also, they’re a lot less concerned with maintaining a cohesive narrative than the Marvel movies. Characters who died in one movie might be alive in the next with no explanation given, for example. Best not to think about it too much..

Hey, Emme! The X-Men are Marvel Comics superheroes created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1963. The film rights were sold to 20th-Century Fox studios in the 1990s. Therefore, no other Marvel characters could appear in them when the MCU came into existence later and nothing mutant-related could exist in the MCU. The X-Men movies proved team superhero movies were viable and are the reason we have an MCU and DCEU. One major problem with the franchise is that there was no plan going in to make a coherent saga so there are MANY CONTINUITY ERRORS! Another problem is that there is little FIDELITY to the comics other than surface level stuff and the franchise became a showcase for HUGH JACKMAN's Wolverine as the central focus; the comics are much more ensemble pieces. Wolverine is hugely popular among comic readers but the movies became largely his vehicle. When the franchise was rebooted with a younger cast to clear up continuity and fidelity issues, the only explanation for discrepancies between the two sets of films was that they were taking place in MULTIPLE TIMELINES. Despite the confusion, X-Men films are all very ENTERTAINING including the duds and boast terrific action and INCREDIBLE CASTS. The duality between frenemies Charles and Erik is the core of these films. They are allegorical representatives of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X. The action sequences are predicated on coordinating and nullifying powers which laid the foundation for the best superhero fight ever in cinema as it utilizes the same principles: the airport battle in "Captain America: Civil War"! The student who phased through the door when Wolverine first meets Xavier is Katherine "Kitty" Pryde and Rogue's role as Logan's mentee in the film was actually Kitty's role in the comics. Rogue is a flight-capable heavy hitting adult in the comics who acquired those abilities when she permanently absorbed Carol "Captain Marvel" Danvers' powers by maintaining contact too long! That incident stripped Carol of her memories and put her in a coma! Jean stopped the bullet from killing the cop but wasn't pyschically dexterous enough to stop a barrage which is why Charles stood down at the train station. Mutants are born with latent powers that usually manifest at puberty. They are a different species of humanity called HOMO SUPERIOR. Other superheroes acquired their powers in accidents and experiments. Wolverine smelled Mystique's pheromonal scent which differed from Storm's which is how he knew her appearance to be false. He has heightened senses like a predatory animal. The yellow spandex quip directed at Logan by Scott is a tongue-in-cheek reference to Wolverine's comic accurate costume now seen in the "Deadpool & Wolverine" trailer! Every point Senator Kelly made is absolutely valid and it would be ill-considered to dismiss them out of hand. The argument is 100% valid. Would you want your kid to go to school with a kid who could shoot lasers from their eyes or shoot flames from their fingers? I think not. Now that Disney owns the film rights, fans are excited to see Kevin Feige adapt them properly. As always, since these are films based on Marvel Comics, STAN LEE has a cameo in most of them. In "X-Men", he was a hot dog vendor on the beach when Senator Kelly emerges from the surf. X-MEN TIMELINES: Egypt --> 1845 --> Nagasaki --> First Class --> DOFP --> Origins ------------------------------------------------> X1 --> X2 --> X3 --> Wolverine ----------> New Mutants ----------------------> Logan Egypt --> 1845 --> Nagasaki --> First Class --> DOFP ----------------> Apocalypse --> Dark Phoenix ------------------------------------------------> Deadpool --> Deadpool 2 -----> DOFP Utopia Egypt --> 1845 --> Nagasaki --> First Class --> DOFP --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> DOFP Dystopia DO NOT watch the films in release order! Follow this RECOMMENDED ORDER! It keeps the multiple timelines orderly and ends the series with two strong films rather than with two less well-received entries. RECOMMENDED VIEWING ORDER: X-Men X2: X-Men United X3: The Last Stand X-Men Origins: Wolverine X-Men: First Class The Wolverine: Extended Cut X-Men: Days of Future Past: The Rogue Cut X-Men: Apocalypse X-Men: Dark Phoenix Deadpool New Mutants Logan Deadpool 2

FYI I love that the writer and director of The X-men movies is a bisexual man because Stan Lee was very clear on multiple occasions that X-men is meant to be a metaphor for social justice for LGBT+ and other sexual minorities and yes racial minorities to a degree but the metaphor based on how the X-gene works is much more obviously applicable to LGBT+ people. And yes wolverine was worried about rogue as a young girl because in the Novel-Version of the first X-men movie Rogue was being held by 3 truckers not just one and yes they had evil lewd intentions toward her but Wolverine saved her. I figure this does not count as spoilers it only relates to Novel-Version of the first film.

That was so much fun! I'd say I'm really looking forward to the journey, but I'm only actually looking forward to the X2. After that we shall part ways as friends, and subscribed to catch the next fun release ❤

fun little fact for you... remember a scene in wandavision when wanda came out of the HEX to say to the agents to f off? after they have sent a drone to eliminate her? when she controlled all the soldiers to make them point their guns at the boss guy? well it was interesting scene because it is quite similar to the scene here where magneto came out of the train station and turned their guns against them.. and it is interesting because wanda and pietro are magneto's kids...

It's not explained in the movies, but in the comics at least Cyclops lost the ability to control his power after a head injury as a kid, this is why he requires the special lenses in his sunglasses and visor. His power is potentially strong enough to "punch a hole through a mountain" as it is just raw concussive force in the form of an energy beam.

It was a magnetic field. Charles mentioned that Erik could make magnetic fields, that was one of his powers.

I wish this movie and movies had a theme song lol like the cartoon does. And yea Scott and Logan do be fighting alot but Jean and Scott are loyal to each other they been together for years. You could at least watch a recap of the original animated series before you watch 97 cause Rogue's vastly different and has some other X men that the movies never mention

That’s ironic: just as you were mentioning how Sabertooth looks like a character for Twilight, I got a notification about a separate KZfaqr doing a reaction _to_ Twilight…

Magneto's plan to make humans into mutants is not a typical scheme of his. I'm not sure why they made it the plot.

Hello Emme!😊 Both the X-Men films and the prequels are very good, and worth reacting to.😉 The X-Men films improve as they go along, too. Great reactions to your very first X-Men film, Emme!!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Watch them in release order including Deadpool as there are occasionally spoilers in those movies for Xmen movies.

You have to watch X-Men: The Animated Series Seasons 1-5 before watching X-Men '97. The movies aren't related or connected to the animated series so watch the first 5 seasons of X-Men before watching X-Men '97.
