Axe Forging out of a Big Wrench (my first axe ever)

A lot of people wanted me to forge an axe. I avoided it for some time , because I had to make an eye drift and my forge was not big enough. I had multiple problems with the weld but I learned a lot and I upgraded my forge and I now have a new skill.

Thank you , it is a project that I will always remember. I took the job to make it as a birthday present for a friend and I couldn't give up.

Very good for your first time. Looks like a great and tough axe and should last you a lifetime of use.

Felicitări Vecine!, pentru lucrările pe care le faci, dar mai ales pentru ca duci mai departe aceasta meserie veche de mii de ani. Nu știu cum e la tine, dar la mine în țară această meserie e pe cale de dispariție. Ma doare, di puținul pe care îl știu în prelucrarea metalelor prin forjare, nu găsesc pe nimeni să mai fie interesat de așa ceva. Îmi dau seama ca ești tânăr tine-o tot așa și încă o dată, FELICITĂRI!!!!

Mulțumesc foarte mult vecine. Există un interes în forjare aici. În fiecare an organizăm un eveniment și vin oamenii. Există câțiva oameni cu multă experiență, dar, în general, desigur, este din ce în ce mai puțin frecvent. Mulțumesc pentru cuvintele frumoase. Salutari :)

hahaha thanks mate . These "crocs" are just too comfortable when I need to stay on my feet for long periods of time :)

Love it! Love the video love the axe mate, i stumbled across one of your shorts and lead me to your channel and I got to say I've probably watched almost all your shorts in the span of a couple. This axe video is my first video and I got to say I absolutely love it! Ive always been a big fan of blacksmithing its something I myself have wanted to get into because it look so fun. Much love amazing videos definitely gonna be watching more!!

is there enough impact strength of a wrench for an axe? In Russia, some blacksmiths make axes from rail (0.8%C 1%Mn)

@@Edwinthemountainman8454 I used coal (my first time ever using coal) , then i switched to charcoal. Finally for the last successful attempt I made new forge to burn coal properly. I did all the forming with coal and only the forge weldings - and the hardening with pure charcoal :)

I like it but it has a few things that can be improved. The handle is weird shape and a bit short.

@@RustLegion that’s fair, my only complaint is the handle. Sometimes I lose grip, and it’s a bit shorter than I’d like it to be but as far as a hammer goes? That’s the hardest head of steel I’ve ever used

you are right but at some point I just stopped filming because it takes a lot more time and I just reduce my chances of success. It's the same operation as I show on the failed one , just my forge welding was successful.
