Battleye and other anti cheat software solutions are closing the door after the horse gets out. The real issue for BSG / Nikita is that they have very, very obvious cheaters that they don't do anything about, and appear not to be learning from. So the same types of cheats work over and over again. Every season it's the same group of cheats, one that takes all the loot, one that shoots through walls, one that lets a player kill everyone in a raid. You can set your watch by them. In a looter shooter, cheating is demoralizing for your player base and can affect their game process. Imagine you are doing the quest where you have to kill all the bosses without dying. You get all but one, you are on your last raid and a cheater takes you out from 700m away with their melee weapon. Unlike most games where you just restart and laugh, the single cheat just harmed perhaps half a day or a day's work. This pissed off players and shrinks the player base. Yet, these cheaters are easy enough to spot and deal with. No cheating solution will be absolute. But they could go a long way to make it work out.
