Thanks for the review mate - you will definitely want to run the scx24 springs on them if they fit.

My hot racing shocks came with the HR backwards RH but they worked
@jassmandidgeridoo2 жыл бұрын
Mine didn't have oil so I put 40 in them no seals so they leaked right away I used the silver springs and sprayed them with silicone penetrating oil. Now they work awesome.
@CCRCAdventures2 жыл бұрын
There are two different kinds of HR shocks. Some have the seals and some do not. The ones that do not are not intended to be filled with oil. Although I know some people put thick grease in them. I have not tried them personally. I have not had any leakage out of these oil shocks though.

Thank you for the vid. Wouldve been cool to see you actually fill up the shock

It’s nothing special to see. Just dripping the oil into the shock from above.

It's usually black silver gold

thanks for the vid. how are these holding up now you've had them for a few months? any leaks? we do alot of indoor sofa crawling so don't want silicon oil tarnishing the sofas. cheers!

No leaks so far.

Was there any sort of seal in the caps? Other than color, they look just like their friction shocks.
@CCRCAdventures3 жыл бұрын
No seal that I could see. I tried oil in a set of their friction shocks and it leaked out pretty quickly. So far these are holding oil fine. Maybe the seal at the shaft is tighter? I'm not sure.

Can you include showing us how the spring is changed?
@CCRCAdventures2 жыл бұрын
I don't have a video of it, but it's pretty simple. You just unscrew the bottom from the shock shaft and the spring slides off. I usually take a pair of needle nose pliers and wrap electrical tape around them. Then use them to grab the shock shaft to hold it while I unscrew it. The tape keeps the pliers from marking up the shaft.

Those shocks are great but mine keeps leaking after 2 or 3 runs, i always need to refill them..

Where are they leaking from? Top or bottom?

I haven't had a chance to test them outside yet, but will be doing that this week and will let you know more.

What shock wt or Cst do these need. Hot Racing says 2000-3000 cst. I'm sorry but surely that isn't right? Any help?
@CCRCAdventures2 жыл бұрын
The weights aren’t called the same thing. In Asia 2000 is the same as 20 in the US. So they are suggesting 20-30wt. I put 25 in mine but I think it’s too heavy. 15 would be better.
@rv2jj4822 жыл бұрын
@@CCRCAdventures thank you very much

What weight oil did you use
@CCRCAdventures3 жыл бұрын
25. But I feel like it was too heavy. i want to try something like 15.
@kel59443 жыл бұрын
You seem to be the only youtuber who has these. You should do an actual test run of them and give us an update. Dropping it on a table isn’t a test.
@CCRCAdventures3 жыл бұрын
I'm planning on it. Between work and bad weather I just haven't had a chance to. As soon as I get the time I'll get an updated video of them in the real world.
@smcarmel3 жыл бұрын
What method are you doing to fill those shocks?
@CCRCAdventures3 жыл бұрын
It's a little tricky since they are so small. What I did was put one drop in and let it sit for a minute, then moved the piston up and down to try to get out any air bubbles. If you do that just don;t move it up past the top of the oil level or you will be trapping more air. Once I did that I added one more drop and that pretty much filled it up.
@smcarmel3 жыл бұрын
@@CCRCAdventures I’m gonna have to try this. I ordered them, but they seem super stiff out of the box. Don’t think they’re supposed to run dry or something lol
@CCRCAdventures3 жыл бұрын
@@smcarmel Yeah. I've never tried running them dry, but I would assume they aren't meant to be run that way. Do you have the actual oil shocks? They make a version not meant to hold oil as well.
@smcarmel3 жыл бұрын
@@CCRCAdventures ya I got both sets. I just got the emulsion ones in the mail a few days ago then stumbled across your video trying to get them workin
@CCRCAdventures3 жыл бұрын
@@smcarmel I will say I'd prefer a lighter oil than what I used. Something in the 10-15 range would probably work better. That's just the lightest I had.
@jonathonto80753 жыл бұрын
Can we get an update on oil leakage?
@CCRCAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Zero leakage so far. Done a good bit of indoor running. A little outdoor but weather has been bad and been busy with work and family stuff. We have a crawling event planned for this weekend and will be testing them more in depth then.
@hellonwheelsuknow65563 жыл бұрын
@@CCRCAdventures so how did they do, leaking & function? In mine I noticed almost no action with 30wt. Made it really tippy side hilling.
@wildmangeorgesrcchannel69163 жыл бұрын
are they still holding oil?
@CCRCAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Yes. No leaks that I can see. I haven't taken them apart to see the oil level, but I don't see any leaking.

@@CCRCAdventures I been waiting on some one to make real shocks for this truck since the first shipment of deadbolts

@@wildmangeorgesrcchannel6916 I'm going to go out on a limb and say that your wait is over. These are very promising so far. Time will tell how well they hold up.

You didn't show You taking the shocks apart.
@CCRCAdventures2 жыл бұрын
True. But they come apart much like the stock shocks. Just take off the bottom collar from the shaft, take off the top cap, and it's apart.
