Mike Mills at the end the song says “ we miss you Mike Baker” for he was the original singer for the part of the Father on ‘ the human equation ‘ ( fascinating album) but he died in 2008 I believe. Also the original was with Devin Townsend (as Rage) 😤 portrayed by the 4 amazing ladies at this concert. I actually love Michael Mills he is amazing in this whole concert.

I feel you 100% Was the same with Floor until she performed on De Beste Zangers. And you wouldn't believe the percentage of people in the Netherlands that have never even heard of one Arjen Anthony Lucassen, let alone ever hearing one of his musical masterpieces. 😣

He actually asked keith emerson for a solo on his album “the theory of everything”. It also features various guest musicians such as keyboardists Rick Wakeman (ex-Yes), Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), and guitarist Steve Hackett (ex-Genesis)

Wow, Eric, your review equals the epicness of this piece of music of Arjen. It is an absolute joy to listen to you experiencing this music. And yes, I fully agree with your findings. Arjen is out of this world. Please listen and watch the sixt extinction from 01011001 , the 2023 show in Tilburg . The official video, not the bootleg, that Arjen just put online. I visited that concert and I am still recovering from that emotional experience . Highly, highly recommended .

Ditto… I can dream this whole concert, listened to it more than a thousand times while making costumes for AfricaBurn… took it with me under the Milky Way.. deepened the experience to a level I have no words for…. Made the gifts for the burn on it: Little mandala’s in the way of Aboriginal Art, dot painting (I’m Dutch but born in Upper Fern Tree Gully). In Tilburg I had the tokens with me and had the chance to give them to most of the singers and musicians, thanking them, hugging.. I can still feel it. Btw, the theme for the Burn was Space……❤

Fun song to start your day, absolutely brilliant !!!! Michael Mills vocals and his stage presence are essential to this song. Also, let's not forget, Sir Joost van den Broek (he is a real knight after all !!!). He is an ecseptional keyboardist and Arjens right hand man. And "The computer with an human feel" Ed Warby, this dude is a living legend ! Thank you for this fun/great reaction Eric !!!! NWSU/FloorFan/Epican/Ayreonaut ✌🤓🤘

LUL is a continiung "joke" about Joost van den Broek the keyboardplayer. He was also in the first band with Floor Jansen, After Forever. And he was the guy who played piano on Floor's version of "Alone".

@@NoWhiteBalls Lul is a Dutch slang word which translates to "d*ck". It has become a running gag between the two to call the other one a lul while in fact they are really good friends if not best friends. So this always happens with big smiles and lots of laughters and is not to be taken serious at all!

@@NoWhiteBalls It means dick and it is meant in a teasing/joking way, it is something that Arjen likes calling Joost that in most videos he is featured thing.

On the DVD Arjen explains that this is out of a dutch comedy show, Jiskefet, that at least he loved very much and so did Joost (but I would have to look that back up again). It's about a bunch of people in an office with some gimmicks and one of them is a greeting "hey lullo!". I can imagine they greeted each other with a copy of that gimmick when they were at their "office".

The part that everyone is yelling "never" is done my Devin Townsend on the album in true Devy wall of sound style! They do a good job live, but his album version is AMAZING!!

Mike Mills is just ridiculously talented, it's not fair lol Check out also The Theory of Everything song on this same Ayreon Universe concert It has Mike Mills doing his father character from the original studio album, and Marcela Bovio doing the mother (original was Christina Scabbia)

What I love about you is that you are able to give yet another perspective on one of my favorite songs… I hear Joosts (Joo as in no) solo’s in my dreams, had the chance to hug and tell him, both bursting out in laughter. Writing this I realize how much I miss hugging the artists after a show, I used to arrange back stage, my daughter and I cooked for the bands (mostly fresh Greek dishes). The energy, synergy, was palpable.

Phenomenal instrumentation, the way they incorporated all the unusual instruments, like the didgeridoo, fife, the strings and all those keyboards. Fun performance.

So psyched to see you check this one out and share your insight! One of my favorite tracks from one of my favorite Ayreon albums. I do miss Devin's unhinged screams from the original recording, but having the ladies take over his part was a cool, creative choice. Rest in peace, Mike Baker!

Hi Eric! This is again a banger of a reaction! Thanks again for putting Ayreon/Arjen in the spotlights! I so much enjoy his music.And this particular performance reminded me of all the small Dutch venues with their audiences and musicians celebrating the joy of music together. The commitment of everybody is captured in every frame. You see that and voice it so well. Thanks!

This track is taken from the Human Equation album, or the Theater Equation theater show. The songs on that album each have a day number, hence the title Day 16: Loser. The Theater Equation is the first theater show from the Ayreon universe, but then again not really (I believe Arjen wasn't involved in the production?). It has a status aparte within the world of Ayreon. Still, it's worth while watching, the whole theater show.
