Choruses with a major tonality in a dark song can either be amazing or obnoxious, in this case it’s probably the best application of that songwriting tactic I’ve ever heard.

Man I used to listen to this one a lot back in the day. One of the best on this album. I love the transition to the chorus through the scream into vocals over sythns.

I loved

A friend of mine introduced me to rock operas and gave me Ayreon albums because he loved them. Then he got Cancer and it was awful. This song takes me back to that time and those last hours, the things he was going through I could not understand at the time. Still, that time I would not have traded for the world. The whole album and its story as a whole are absolutely incredible. But this song recconects me with the viceral experiance of a lost friend. Dammed good song.
