Everything Arjen touches becomes golden! He's brilliant beyond words. Wait til you watch "The Day The World Breaks Down!" Everything Ayreon does is essentially a story, all the different albums fit together into a timeline. Arjen gathers the cream of the cream to perform, and each singer is a character in the story. Every major metal band is represented at some point. You could easily spend the next couple years covering their material, but damn if it isn't worth every second! Your reaction to Floor was excellent! Arjen basically discovered her and she's been singing with him since she was sixteen ... and her sister Irene is one of the three harmony singers.

The Ayreon Universe live concerts are magic. He creates his albums and invites many singers to perform in them, sometimes they come to his studio, sometimes they send him a recording of their part. Arjen Antony Lucassen (the man behind Ayreon) puts them together with his music, to create stunning music art. Live concerts are rare because the singers are from all over the world and have their own bands. Most on top level in their genre.

Just so you know, Ayreon is an even bigger rabbit hole than Nightwish, and it never ends.. So Ayreon is not really band, but more of a musical project…one of many by Dutch composer/multi-instrumentalist/producer Arjen Lucassen. All Ayreon albums are concept albums that tell a story, and he recruits top-notch vocalists from all over the world to portray the various characters in the story. Floor and her sister Irene (the chorus singer on the left) are frequent participants. I would highly recommend you watch The Day That the World Breaks Down, in which Arjen himself narrates via subtitles, giving info on the different vocalists and musicians. You’ll love it.

There are 10 Ayreon studio albums to enjoy so far (and about just as many side projects). All sci-fi, many featuring Floor (she has been working with Ayreon for decades), many of them double albums. Most of them conceptual to boot. With many other well known singers on earlier albums - Bruce Dickinson can be mentioned as one of oh so many.

I am gonna make this rabbit hole even deeper. AYREON is just 1 of Arjen Anthony Lucassen`s projects. Another is Star One. The album from Star One, Revel In Time, came out last februari, featuring stars like Brittney Slayes and Steve Vai. Each song has a different singer, and each song is based on a movie about time travel or time controle. Enjoy !!

Arjen has been working with over 100 of the top singers and musicians in the world - like Floor since year 2000 (and her sister Irene a few years later). But all the great ones are there - and just to tease you - Steve Vai is also in the Arjen Universe.... By the way - the guy on the piano is Floor's old friend and bandmember of After Forever and ReVamp.. helping her with some of her cover and solo projects..

Micheal Mills is a vocal god as far as male vocalist goes, and at the end there is the the female vocal goddess.

Actually, Ayreon is not a band, it’s a musical proyect with 8 studio albums. Each album has its own concept but every album is connected into a musical/lyrical “ayreon universe”. Also, there are a lot of guest musicians and singers in each album. Fun fact: Sharon den Adel from Within Temptation sang in the first album “Into the electric castle”, you should listen the studio version songs “Cosmic Fusion” or “Isis and Ossiris”, sharon is a one of the guest singers in those songs. There are a live versions of these songs but Simone (from epica) is the singer that replace the studio singing sections of Sharon. You surely like both versions

You need to watch The Day that the world breaks down. It's awesome. The whole album follows a long running sci-fi story. It's the creation of Arjen Luccasen who does these amazing collaborations of musicians, and 11 singers, from bands from all over the world. The fellow that blasted you us an amazing Australulian singer. He plays the computer that is taking over on the album, hence the outfit lol. By the way Floor has Bern on tobs of hid albums, collaborating with him since she was 18. :)

take ben griffens advice. the back up singer closest to the drummer is irene jansen, floor's sister.. every other singer on stage including the back up singers have their own band. the drummer is ed warby, one of the best as are the other musicians. you will hear her and floor sing together in another song. the only reason irene doesn't lead a band is because i guess she doesn't want to. she helps floor translate songs into english. if you want to be totally blown away by a short song watch "valley of the queens.' if you want to be blown away by 20 singers watch the eye of ra.
