On Nov. 1, 2012, the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles held a Concert of Azerbaijani Mugham dedicated to the 35th Anniversary of inclusion of Azerbaijani Mugham in the small and exclusive musical collection of the Golden Records attached to the Voyager Spacecraft and sent to the space by NASA in 1977. Guest speaker of the event was Dr. Charles Elachi, Director of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, at which the Voyager Spacecraft were made. The concert was held in the famous Schoenberg Hall of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Read more here: www.alaturkaonline.com/event/c...

For those wondering about the singers holding the Daff drum without playing it too much, in the past singers would hold a Daff drum close to their mouth to amplify the voice to be heard from far, it's a tradition to still do it even with the mic's this days. my homeland beautiful Azerbaijan.

Wonderful! Young and talented musicians in this concert have represented the ancient and rich content of Azerbaijani mugam music which is the acumulated memmory of thousands of years civilisation and interactive culture of Azerbaijan that has happened to be in the cross road of Europe and Asia. Mugham singers Aytan Maharramova, Vusala Musayeva and Ilkin Ahmedov. Instrumentalists Imamyar Hasanov (kamancha), Elshan Gasimov (drum) and Rufat Hasanov (tar).
