The lyrics are so full of pathos, it's almost funny :) Not a chalga fan, but this was huge hit and no one can deny it. If you want a translation, here it is (albeit not a perfect one): [Chorus] My love, do you sleep well? Are you well-covered /in blankets, sheets/? Do you eat well? Because I don't! Damn it, I LOVE YOU! I want to die. Habibi=My love, do you curse on me? Do you crawl drunk in the nights, because I do that! I'm for the looney bin, I'm on the edge..., I'm heading nowhere... I absolutely LOVE Azis, I discovered Bulgarian music probably 8 or so years ago but have only just started learning the language. I'm teaching myself with online videos. Anyway, you've got a new subscriber. I'd love to go to Bulgaria one day!

Azis is Bulgarian with a gipsy origins. His real name is Vasil. :)) Habibi is an arabic world but it is trendy in Bulgaria (or maybe at least to me it sounds very common because I grew up with Bulgarian-Lebanese kids in my neighborhood a dunno 😂). The puppy in the video is a reference to the lyrics... you need to ask some of your friends to translate them for you as they are very touching and a little sad even. :p

Chalga is not exactly bulgarian music. It's a mix of Balkan, Middle Eastern and Oriental music, possibly some mexican influences as well in some songs. Chalga came to Bulgaria after the fall of communism and was a shocking genre to the people back in the 90s due the lyrics and oriental music but somehow became the most popular music genre in Bulgaria...

Azis is gipsy like Storaro family. And this music is typical for more of the clubs in Bulgaria, but for sure is not Bulgarian, except the lyrics. Жлъч - Немилост (remix)

What does his passport say? What language does he speak? Which country does he live in? He might be gipsy heritage but I'm pretty sure he calls himself Bulgarian (and brings happiness to many Bulgarians, whether it's in musical form or otherwise). Plus why would it matter? He works hard (Storaros too) and tries to better life for him and his family. It's like saying Me (Jamal) and Chad are not English because one of our parents/grandparents were born in a different country/culture. It's like saying Hip Hop isn't American because the black people who created it have roots in Africa. I know there is a gypsy problem in Bulgaria but I am pretty sure Azis WANTS to be Bulgarian and is PROUD to be from Bulgaria. So why not let the ones who want to integrate and be good citizens live without insulting them. I mean he is incredibly successful anyways I don't think we can judge a man so talented and successful before looking at ourselves. (Edit) This channel is about fun and love. We really don't care about the race of people just their work and vibe.

Jamal, I didn’t say he is not Bulgarian, but that he is gipsy. I said that ‘cause his music is some fusion between gipsy, Turkish and Arabian folk music. His music have nothing with the original Bulgarian folk or pop music. It’s not typical Bulgarian music and that’s all I said. But it’s typical for the Bulgarian clubs for sure. If he was born in England and makes the same music there it will not be a typical English music, right? I have nothing against the gipsies or pop folk (just not my type of music). I understand where you're coming from and it was partly a misunderstanding. However at what point do we say x isn't music from y? How many generations does it take for pop-folk to become "Bulgarian music". Honestly if he was born in the UK I would just say it's English music due to the fact he is English. Now would I say it's traditional? 100% no but at this point we are just being pedantic and picking at small things haha. In the UK we say UK hip hop UK rock UK grime UK pop (Brit pop) so we don't really single out whether or not it is "traditional" we just take pride in home grown talent regardless of where it drew it's inspiration from. Either way thank you for your message and request we appreciate well thought out replies and we'll check your request out soon (although it may take some time xaxa). Btw your English is great don't worry!
