Corvo is a small gem in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. It is the smallest of the nine islands of the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores, and it is also the westernmost place of the European continent. With only around 400 inhabitants, there is a very laid back vibe and cosy atmosphere on the island. We absolutely enjoyed our two days on the island, while discovering the ‘caldeirão’, their most famous landmark, the huge crater of a volcano… Find out for yourself with our video about Corvo.

After an epic journey through South America with their motorbike Anabela and Jorge Valente decided to launch diariesof. diariesof is not just another travel magazine. diariesof is a bi-annual coffee table magazine on experiential travelling. I was last there in 1964 yes I said 1964. I was a young boy and my father owned a company in St. Miguel that imported and exported goods between Europe and the United States through the Acores Islands. He was originally from the island of Flores and he would save all of his business on Flores and Corvo for the summer months. My mother, my brother and myself would travel with him during the summer months to visit our family on Flores and Corvo. Your video brings back many good memories Thank you so much, Aires Silveira.

Corvo island looks amazing, i am planning a trip to Azores next year and it's really hard to choose which islands to visit .Great video, a big like from me ! Corvo island is not the westernmost point though, this is what wikipedia says: The Monchique islet on Flores Island, located at 31° 16′ 24″ W is regarded as the westernmost point in Europe, even though from a geological standpoint the two westernmost Azorean islands (Flores and Corvo) actually lie on the North American plate.

I guess it is correct if we say it is the westernmost inhabited island then :) Please put Corvo on your list, it really is worth it! We are posting more videos about the Azores soon! greetings from Italy, excellent video, I have a great curiosity, I see houses, but what if a man decides to live there? could he do it? or would the state not allow it?

Hi Napuluzzio, there's a village in Corvo where people live, that's probably what you mean? You can live in the village, provided you find a home to rent or buy. I am not sure what is the market situation there, but I guess one could find a house to rent or buy in Corvo :)
