I think videos like this are great for newer players (or players who are newer to control). I liked when Athena specified on why there aren’t too many sweepers in this list. Love the specifics in the sideboarding matchup. Not sure I’d run Ezrim but it’s interesting to hear about decisions like that.

Keep making content like this and we will see the player base grow. I had to sub for this and the "state of the meta" videos, really game changing content. I someday want to transition from mtg Arena to live events and content like this keeps us all going

Nah. When you get good at playing it, control games can go quickly. It's the opponents fault for stalling for 20 min when you have 7 cards in hand and 10 life while they're hellbent. If they just accept the loss and concede sooner it'd be better lol

I've seen control wins in under 1 minute and control wins that took the full 60, just depends on the context. - Riktus

Definitely a worthy mention! I wish I just had all the time in the world to talk about every nuance of UW Control deck building with alternate cards and such, but alas, the video can only be so long xd

The big issue I have with Bant at the moment is that it really shines in midrange metas, where Beanstalk can really outgrind opponents. That being said, the midrange decks are usually our best matchups anyways, and there are enough aggro decks where we start to worry about casting Temporary Lockdown and Beanstalk in the same deck.

I'm assuming Bant Control also has struggles handling Domain pre-board. Which isn't great considering how many people are piloting that archetype post-PT. Nonetheless, short answer is we try to focus our SB Guides on decks that our content creators are excited to rock in the meta. Hope this helps!

Ezrim is certainly a consideration, though the speed at which it can be deployed can be damning given the current speed of mono-red. - Riktus

Thanks again for the content ! Taking inspiration from your list for an event i am going to play tomorrow i have a question : what is your plan against decks like worldsouls ramp or 5 color legends ? I think to integrate directly graveyard hate like rest in pace or kutzil’s flanker but please I would like to know your thoughts regarding that

Tidebinder and Flanker are excellent, as is a single copy of Rest in Peace. See Double also is well positioned off the sideboard as a singleton to go with a few copies of Negate. The Jace mill-out plan is back and forth as they'll be boarding in "Turn the Earth" to counteract, so tread cautiously. - Riktus

+1 Rest in Peace +3 Negate +2 Dennick, Pious Apprentice +2 Chrome Host Seedshark -2 Elspeth'sSmite -1 March of Otherworldly Light -3 Temporary Lockdown -2 Sunfall This would be my guide with this list against Temur. RIP shuts off their grave plan, but Dennick is also fairly good at stopping the recursion part of their gameplan via Virtues and Shigekis. Negates are necessary as you get later into the game and need to counter the Worldsoul Rage, and Chrome Host gives you a way to land a threat early, since you do need to have some sort of clock against combo decks. You take out Smite since they're never attacking in, and you take out March and sweepers because they won't do much to stop their gameplan on-curve. Sorry I caught this so late, but I hope this gets to you in time for your event, good luck and have fun!

@@athenathebun in the end we split the finals at my store championship (14 players), your advice helped a lot !! UW felt so strong :D Will enjoy the deck as much as possible before the rotation. Very curious about what control will be in standard after
