Yeah, even this is a misconception, the Mayans marked around 2012 of our era as the end of that Baktún and the end of that era, meaning a new start of an era, a "New Sun" not that the world would end… Meanwhile curiously in separate instances both the Mayans and Mexicas or "Aztecs" predicted around 1512 the return of Quetzalcoatl and the temporary reign of Huitzilopochtli, which meant deep change, darkness and destruction, and around that time the conquest and arrival of the Spanish occurred, stuff like that is marked in calendars and dates they marked match the events like the rebelion of Cholula and the indigenous uprisings, famines, plagues and the fall of Tenochtitlan.
@FreddieHg372 жыл бұрын
Also the Aztecs and Mexicas didn't sacrifice people everyday nor all the time. Mostly it was during droughts, in the aftermath of war and conflict or at times of turmoil pretty much.

@jacobmartinez40312 жыл бұрын
Definitely not all, and those "volunteers" were usually people chosen and were forced to, but yeah most of them were war prisoners which still makes the thing pretty bad, the amount of people that wanted to live and were killed pretty much outweights the other by a lot, son know what you're talking about.
@gabrielxavier26762 жыл бұрын
Even the ones willingly to become a sacrifice were chosen years before the date and increasingly drugged until the actual sacrifice. Plus they were convinced that this was an honor by their culture and their family would be given as good treatment as they would have before the sacrifice except the drug part. Personally I think all this makes the sacrifices still very bad as its implementing now known brainwash techniques.
