What a great tribute to a fascinating character! I really appreciated Azula's arc this season. We only ever saw Zuko feeling inferior to Azula in the OG, so it's fascinating seeing their father holding Zuko's success at achieving the "impossible" in discovering the Avatar over her. It makes so much sense that she would feel threatened by Zuko, even if she'd never let it show outwardly.

Yeah, this version of the character is more realistic, relatable, and vunerable, from the beginning, Azula was just too perfect in the cartoon, with an over the top voice, done by a 30 year old actress. I don’t need Azula to end of as crazy and psycho as she did at the end of book 3, cause that was very extreme, evil, and cartoon villain like, I prefer this version of the character much more, it’s her first big acting job, and as the actress, she has no control of the casting, writing, and directing, which people often forget, and just hate on the actors, who are perfectly capable of playing the character in other ways, but it’s not their choice to make.

Don’t know, but always blame the casting directors, writers, and/or directors, never the actors, they’re just being professional and doing their job, and have little influence over the decisions being made.

The firelord didn’t see her as below average she was above. He needed her because not only was she a natural prodigy but almost as cold, calculated and deceitful as him when he gave her the mission. Azula didn’t need to be told she was perfect because she already thought she was. the problems w/ her mom and any other emotional problems were pushed down and barely mentioned. Only approval, intimidating people for her own gain and power is on her mind. And her two friends helped her succeed.

in this version it sounded like Ozai didnt really care much for her when he heard that Zuko has done the impossible he was praising his son (something Ozai didnt do in the OG) in the OG Show Ozai praised Azula more

In my own head canon, after watching this live action season, I feel like Azula unlocked her blue flames, when she unlocked lightning bending, and took over Omashu, a combination of the 2, physical training, and a mental sense of direction and purpose she lacked when stuck at the palace.

I think the Azula we see here is more human, we see her humanity and issues fleshed out more. She is ambitious and wants the throne, be the perfect heir and princess to the eyes of Ozai and she is achieving that, but when Ozai praises Zuko, she feels threatened and wants to prove her worth now more than nothing, so it makes sense she is more snappy. In the series she is the same, when her plans don't go as she likes she loses her cool. She is short sighted in the sense she cannot comprehend things when they are out of her vision of the world; she always thought of Zuko as weak, the one who with bad luck and couldn't do anything right, so Ozai acting like he did something worth mentioning and considered "impossible" breaks her beliefs of her brother

Just like star wars, think of this as generational. One generation grew up with the animated show, another with this live action show, just like the star wars triologies, and animated shows. Both aren’t made for adults to pick it apart with logical analysis and emotionally charged opinions, but for kids, who are just positive, and experience the world like wonders, being happy, instead of disliking stuff you can’t even change, which only affects your own, and other peoples mood in a negative way.

If I were directing such a story; I'd stress to her that her character's basically the steriotypical mean girl; she's essentially playing a bully; and to boot: her character's very favorite victim: Azula's own brother- so this's a VERY malfunctioning family.

She actually pulled it off. Just nitpicking, I prefer her bending with Azula's trademark "2 fingers bending". This showcased how deadly, sharp and precise is her attack.

Fat?? It may be the layers of clothing, but she ain't too fat, what she is not is athletic. Maybe they should have casted someone with more muscle definition and/or tonification tho, since the character whole deal is that she is a prodigy and trains to be the best at it

@hur293 you thought her acting was good ??? the more you deviate from the cartoon looks the more her acting better make up for it. You already fighting againts the cartoon and the show runners need to understand to get future seasons everything has to be perfect. Why they went with someone that looks like poh in a helmet is beyond me and subpar acting skills. Like it or not people are visually driven. Everyone loves the Kyoshi and Suki the most and serveral vidoes about them.

It seems that she cannot show an intimidating face. I expected to see more stunts. It’s a shame that she does not project Azula's intelligence and confidence 😞. I don’t think that it is because of the writers, I thinks it’s the cast. I mean, Azula is a very complex character, so I don’t blame her at all

Azula and Mai are the biggest mistake in this live action series, I love the series, until they show up. Honestly, Azula is the one I am waiting for in the series ,😢 And I stop watching it, this is bullshit, who cast them, I mean they are not bad actresses, but look at the anime,. This is far from the anime, No menacing look, no confident, and Burger King ambassador, really. Suck it up netflix

its just bad wrighting, like non of the characters (except sokka/and only by a his characteristics) are remotely like the show. Hollywood just is terrible at casting like how hard is it to sit down and be like, "ok you look like the character, give me an evil laugh. . . ok can you sound more self absorbed when you laugh. . . good ok now give me some facial expressions, look like you are thinking evil thoughts with glee. . . ok now quick snap lock onto someone with disgust. . . great, now give me the most angry look you can muster show them teeth . . . good we will give you a call." HOW HARD IS THAT? oh wait no one working on the show actually cares and its a cash grab? well fk you want my money how about you just get the og ppl that worked on the show and . . . oh they quit cause you didnt let them have creative control? jeez congrats now its a turd. . . a shiny turd tho, there is defintetly worst shows out there.
