He just wants to be friends with his students, I think he wants to go back to his childhood, but he's a bit shy, he doesn't know how to get along very well socially, making him awkward because he forces interaction and doesn't react when someone does something to him, he's cool, if you need help, he only helps, he's a nicer guy. strange by habit, he tries to make jokes but something internal most of them don't understand he's being funny because of his expressionless face but also because he doesn't know how to express a joke better

05:35 She said "愛称"/aishou/ and the subtitle translated that into "nickname". I think it's kind of different. あだ名/adana/ is the kind of nickname that you call your friend by. 愛称 is kind of an endearing name, the kind of thing that fans call a celebrity by. It literally means "love name".

@@WingMaster562 If you go broad with the definition, sure I got the impression that the character was just an outwardly weird "lolicon" man figure though, more of a caricature of actual school teachers that get a little too close to the students. (IIRC he says "I like high schooler girls and stuff!" when he first shows up, 't least in the manga) And I'm not sure if the original manga was that meta, though I could be wrong with this.

Kimura is a very unsettling character, and it is rightfully so that people don't like him. The thing is, all across Japan (and even in other places in the world) people like Kimura do exist. It is a very common thing to find grown married men with kids who still creep on young girls. Kimura is just the characterisation of an upsetting reality in our own world.

Before I started watching this show he seemed like an interesting character but now that I started watching it I realized he is just straight up a creep who likes younger girls and I can‘t find myself to be really entertained by him or find him really funny. It‘s just uncomfortable every time. Kinda brings the mood of the anime down a bit when the anime is just pretending that it‘s all fine. I hope there are some more layers to his character other than him having a family I guess because he seemed interesting at first and I really wanted to like him because of that.
