Azure 101 - Azure Storage Accounts for Beginners

In this video I go over Azure Storage Accounts. What they are and how to deploy and access one. I start by reviewing the characteristics such as access tiers and different blob types. I then walk through setting one up, create a SAS token for access and use storage explore to upload a blob file.

I googled "local redundant storage" on KZfaq because it came up in an assessment question on Pluralsight and I had no idea what it meant. Yours was the first hit. You explained the term and several others in your video, which was just technical enough to make me google the acronyms you assume we all know. I agree you should probably explain the acronyms as you go. But overall this was very helpful and I will recommend your videos.

If I use Azure for a SMB 3 share for several users have I to initiate the connection for each user on each office PC or can I push this someway to certain users from Azure (sort of like a logon batch file or something).

Question: What does it mean if our storage account does not have a "Blob Service" section on the left-hand pane, but says Data Lake storage? I did not create this storage account, but I'm wanting to have Azure AD Logs archive to this storage account. The problem is, it's the ONLY storage account not listed as an option to send logs to. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm guessing it's a Data Lake storage account. I haven't used Data Lake so can't give more details other then it's different from an Azure Storage account. Here is a link to the MS Doc docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/blobs/data-lake-storage-introduction

Please see that you made an error on your explication : ZRS does mean : - Zone Redundant Storage - Stability : AZURE and not ZOE REDUNDANT STOCKAGE. See also here, Microsoft told that they can save for you lot of time TTL and give you a better 99.95% SLA, but users told me that was different : docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/common/storage-redundancy

You published this on June 25, 2019. If Microsoft updates their Azure Blob Storage interface, your video will immediately become awkward/frustrating at best. My recommendation is that you keep your video current - or delete it. You'll keep your subscribers.

I think you have no idea how many acronyms and esoteric terms (e.g. SLA, etc.) you use in this video. I believe you must be assuming that you're talking to experienced IT people. A lot of complete novices have need for cloud storage, too. If you ever refresh this video, you might keep that in mind.

Can you please create this scenatios from 0 On-premises Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS): Windows machines can access Azure file shares with on-premises Active Directory credentials that are synched to Azure AD over SMB Azure Active Directory Domain Services (Azure AD DS): Azure AD DS-joined Windows VMs can access Azure file shares with Azure AD credentials.  Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) Kerberos for hybrid user identities: Using Azure AD for authenticating hybrid user identities allows Azure AD users to access Azure file shares using Kerberos authentication.
