Never has a man with the name King been so worthy of that name.

I wrote my senior term paper on B.B. King. We all read our papers to the class. I asked Mr. Mitchell if I could play some of BB's music on my sweet mono cassette player:). He was hip and I knew he would agree. I punched that huge button down and out came 'Why I Sing the Blues" I bobbed my head and some of the class grooved in their desks and others squirmed as BB sang this song for grown ups. Anyway, I had found our mother road, I have rarely strayed from it. You got to laugh to keep from cryin' BB would say. Thanks for blazing the trail. Your star still burns bright.

I have listened to this guy since I was a kid, now I am a senior citizen and he still sounds good. This guy has his own style of singing and playing and it is unique, clear and very entertaining. Make room for him in Heaven, he and the angels will keep things moving. I loved you and I miss you B. B. King.

Thank GOD for the blues! Without them, we wouldn't appreciate the good that we're enjoying now! Our children wouldn't understand where we're coming from when we say, " Lord, we've come a long way from where we used to be!" This is for everybody to appreciate, because we all have had some struggles along the way to success of some sort! BB, keep singing and telling your/our story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was the first record by BB King I ever heard. It came from an open window on the ground floor across the college lawn and I stopped in my tracks, went over and asked with awe: "Who is that man, playing?" 😂 "Oh, that's BB King. Have you never heard him?" I was 18, always a blues fan, but I somehow hadn't. Since then not a record, not one live performance slipped by.

An American Treasure. One of a kind, so incredible when you take in to consideration everybody and his mother tries to play the Blues, thinking it's easier than shredding a guitar or doing the Jazz thing. Sorry Stevie, Eric Clapton, any English invasion bands don't even come close. If that intro doesn't make the hair on the back of your neck stand up, check for a pulse OR a brain wave. Mr. King is an AMERICAN TREASURE.
@bluesatsunset9 жыл бұрын
Chainsaw Mendes Couldn't agree more. It is a great shame the American mass didn't really wake up to the likes of BB, Albert King, Wolf et-al until the British bands started emulating these greats and took it back home.
@DUSTYBASS9 жыл бұрын
I gotta tell ya though....Jimmy Page, Keith and Rory Gallagher (Man, I miss Rory ) got it. Keith and the boys were at the Checkerboard here in Chicago along with Muddy, I meant no disrespect towards any Invasion bands, hell the English and Irish musicians/fans figured it out WAY BEFORE we did. We always were a little slow...lol. Going to play some Irish tour right now. Cheers Bruddah.

Encountered BB coming out of an elevator in Lincoln, Nebraska. I said "BB? how's it going?" He replied "just scufflin' man". Saw his concert that night. Eight rows from the stage. Eye to eye with BB sitting in a chair because of his diabetes. He was outstanding and the band was wonderful as well. Glad I got to see him before he went. A musical legend loved by all.
