I am not sure I would say they use the best steel or that they are the best on the market, but I have about 10 (or more) and I really like them and get great shaves with them. The quality level is higher (in my experience) than with other mass manufacturers. As for steel, it’s good, they run it a bit softer than other makers and it does feel during the shave. It is a touch more gentle, plus it strops really well. Thiers-Issard in France also has very good steel, but that’s on the other side of the spectrum in terms of hardness. Neither is better, just different. As for factory edge, I agree with you, they need to be honed. But then I need to hone every factory edge from all the big makers (Böker, Thiers-Issard, Koraat). Only RigaRazor delivered razors which have a good edge on them (and I own about 6). I also don’t mind it honing my razors fresh from the factory/grinder. I like honing and spend quite a bit of time on Jnats (sharpening razors mostly, but also other tools), it is quite therapeutic when you have the right stones. Cheers!

@@timothyberg7720 what I meant was that I have Böker razors, so different models and not just the same model in 10 units. I don’t know how many I own, but must be around 10 new ones and absolutely no clue how many vintage ones. Last time I counted was about a year ago and I added at least 5 more since then. I hope now it’s clear what I meant the first time.

@@diavalusThe vintage ones...can you still shave with them? Because here in Germany, on Ebay, there are so many old straight razors in rotation, junk that was used by hairdressers in the 60s and 70s...flee market findings...that most of them are just unusable. Do your vintages still work???
