In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Ironclad. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. Later on, he explains his decision for each card he chooses and why it's important to the build. Towards the end, he gears up for an epic Heart fight you don't want to miss. I use a few mods for Slay the Spire. All of them are Quality-of-Life improvements and do not have any effect on the gameplay. Here are all of the mods I have active:
Slay the Relics Exporter, used for the live stream: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
Relic Stats, to keep track of how many times the relic effects happened: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
UI Sliders, to reposition the Discard and Exhaust piles, so that they are not hidden behind the camera: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
Run History Plus, giving us more info in the Run Summary screen about the run: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
Map Marks, for path highlighting - here, typically, Green means an easy, intended path, and Orange or Red means a harder path that I might take if I get good rewards: github.com/casey-c/mapmarks

It feels like whenever you pick up Corruption, you always pick up Dark Embrace as well: I always seem to get one but not the other!

You gotta consider the bias in this situation. From all runs Baalor plays, only a fraction become YT videos, and the ones that do are mostly wins. As the Corruption + Dark Embrace combination is extremely strong, runs in which he gets both are more likely to make it to YT. Therefore, I would bet that the frequency of runs with Corruption + Dark Embrace is significantly higher in the YT videos than in his total run count (which is the conditions you experience when playing the game yourself).

@@thearius4254 This is definitely true but to add to this Baalor is also very willing to take a speculative Dark Embrace when offered it even when he barely has exhausting cards in his deck or energy to play it because it has so much potential synergy with Ironclad's card pool. I've seen many runs of his where DE feels like a curse for a while after he picks it up but when the exhaust synergies are online starts to put in a ton of work. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the combo more often than the average spire player because of that.

@@DavidGuildthat run was so so good but he almost had a better run with nightmare nightmare wish. He was just missing the courier but if he had it then he couldve bought every relic (sans class exclusive) in the game.

I definitely would have gone Mark of Pain over Runic Dome, I hate Runic Dome and value Mark of Pain quite a bit more than you (I'm also a big fan of Fire Breathing and Evolve).

Thing is, with snecko + corruption + dark embrace + mass exhaust, you have very little care over how much enemies are attacking for and it doesn't end up mattering in the vast majority of situations. 2 wounds definitely clogs the deck, but could have been manageable regardless since he had such a powerful deck at the time. Runic dome with this deck was definitely S-tier pick IMO.

Different decks for different players. I also hate the Dome a lot. It involves having to remember what enemy does what and when, or oftentimes winning at heads-or-tails. I don't mind a bit of randomness (this is a card game after all), and I understand this is likely the reason I won't ever reach Baalor's win percentage, but having to micromanage to that point would make StS a bit less fun to me.

Runic Dome is almost no punishment for a lot of decks, mark of pain is punishment for every deck unless you have bottled evolve

@@Xgya2000 For some decks this may be true, but again, the way he played the deck would not have mattered if he knew what they were doing or not. It was free energy.

Brutality compared to combust with senecio eye is worse, you lose less playability from a more expensive card so the benefit of senecio is better

baalord a hutts enjoyer? need to try some binding of isaac. less strategic, more interactive, movement skill involved, much fun. keep up the good work
