I just wanna say massive respect for leaving the stick drop in. Most people would of done another whole take. Shows that this is actual skill and not just 15 takes until you got a good one. Keep drumming dude.

I think leaving the blip in is just Baard's way of saying "yes, I am in fact human, just in case you're confused" 😆

I think he averages a total of 3 stock drops/breaks a video! Haha. But for real, love his “Keep it rolling attitude even if it’s not perfect (although it usually still is!)”

God I hate assumptions "most people wouldn't have done this". Like who? Do you know any example? Baard is an awesome drummer and it's cool that he left the stick drop in, but it's not necessary to trash others to praise him.
@bmac4

@@hardcoreoma Every drummer drops their sticks a few times no matter how good or controlled they are. It's something you get used to being able to recover for. And even in this case, it doesn't even sound that bad, like there's something missing, but even in how climactic a part of the song it is he still recovers about as seamlessly as he could.

I can attest to this. At the moment you drop a stick, all you can think of is keep the sound as whole as possible and so there's a strange interplay between getting a new stick and keep the tempo-beat with the one you already have. It's a split second thing but it's pretty intense.

What i've realized is that Baard actually plays his instrument as a true musical instrument, and not merely as a help for other band members to measure rhythm.

So to name but a few things I love about this. 1. Almost every cymbal is broken and sounds awesome. 2. The most epic stick recovery. 3. The overall genius of the double pedals over that snare rhythm towards the end of the track. You are fucking sick man.
@szabolcsmate5254
@szabolcsmate5254 3 жыл бұрын
My favourite cymbal I owned was a cheap thin small no-name splash that I got for free as it was already knackered. One day after a hard hit it turned "inside out", so from then on it looked a bit like an upside down china. I mean I loved it before, but after this it sounded even more amazing. A bit like something between a splash and a small china. I sold the whole kit long ago, but that was real unique!

That was impressive, even the stick drop where a lot of drummer I have seen would have to wait until the start of the bar to come back in. The herthas at the start were cool, the way he played in between the guitar riff in around the four minute mark was very cool. Those single stoke roles were insanely fluid, especially over that double bass drum pattern. Really good drummer, very creative and above all else musical, very much enjoyed it 👍

So, as a result, watching this just inspires me and makes me want to play and improve...but the moment I start playing again, it will soon turn back to discouragement... oh well! Baard, you're beyond phenomenal...and I hope to someday have even a shred of the talent you have! ...I'd also like to point out, (as the VIP session in San Francisco showed...) you're a wonderfully and genuinely nice dude, and I respect the hell out of ya!
