Duolingo’s lack of grammar lessons hurts your learning experience. Most of the time, you must structure your sentence based on what feels right, which makes it unclear to users when they make a mistake.

I just discovered your channel while doing a research for language learning methods. I'm Argentinian, and in a long distance, +1 year relationship with the Polish love of my life, we plan to meet this year for the first time. I love the quality of your explanations, your sincerity and the generosity of the channel, it'll certainly give me more efficient paths to learn Polish in the long run. Whether I win a giveaway, that's something else, but for now, all I can say is keep the great work up!

which app do you use?
@vipnetworker
@vipnetworker Ай бұрын
@@burritodog3634 I have used several. I think the best one is Rocket Languages. I think it is also good to use 2 different apps because you will get different materials, training methods, and some overlap which is good for repetition. Make sure the 2 apps are not too similar. That way you get some variety. Rocket Languages and Pimsleur are both VERY good, but similar. I would not do both. Pick one. Busuu and Babbel are both VERY good, but also VERY similar. I would not use both, choose one. I like Rocket Languages and Busuu. That is my winning combination. Pimsleur and Babbel would be just as good too. Busuu has a free version with ads that is still as good as the paid version. If you’re on a budget, Busuu is your BEST option. Then add more Spanish to your life in different ways. Spanish music, Spanish podcasts, Spanish videos on KZfaq. The more input the better. Many people start with Duolingo. I did and I loved it, but I learned in time Duolingo is more of a game than a great teaching tool. I still do Duolingo for FUN and to supplement my learning, but my main method of learning is Rocket Languages and Busuu. Duolingo is my fun game I play for 15 minutes a day or so. There are plenty more great apps out there, but those are my favorites. Good luck.

I agree as a Hispanic born in the united states I never learned Spanish and it’s always been a thorn in my side I used Duolingo for a few years on and off I’ll be honest I could have been more proactive with it but I learned a lot of words thru Duolingo but when it comes to actually using those words and forming sentences in real life I freeze up and can’t seem to think of them then with Babbel I did the one free lesson and I felt right away like I could actually learn the language thru Babbel vs just learning words not to mention Duolingo teaches only Spanish from Spain not Latin American Spanish which Babbel does ima definitely have to pay for Babbel and go hard

@TestPrepInsight, I have watched several of your videos and appreciate the reviews. I kind of a situation I was hoping to get your help with. I have intermediate to advance skills in Spanish. I have never had any formal Spanish classes or training. I learned through immersion. This being the case, I can't read or write in Spanish, not effectively, at least. Sometimes my grammar is wrong, as I'm not following any learned rules, just what sounds correct to my ear. When I use Duoling, I struggle with spelling and some grammar. I don't see my situation covered in any learning applications or programs. Honestly, they all look good, and it's difficult to choose. Any suggestions on a learning application or program that might be a good fit?
@TestPrepInsight

Hi, based on your situation described above, I would recommend checking out Babbel or Busuu for learning to read/write. Rocket Spanish and Pimsleur are our preferred choices for listening/speaking, but it sounds like you already have that covered. Give Babbel or Busuu a try for working on your reading/writing. Good luck!

The grammar on duolingo definitely got much worse after they removed the little section explaining the grammar so you kind of just have to vibe the rules which isn't the worst. Though when I'm very stuck I will often google what the rules are lol. I think the major aspect for duolingo for me is the social aspect. Just saying I have a large streak feels like an accomplishment and makes me want to keep going. And friend quests are fun ways I can engage with friends who are also learning a language. I'm not sure what would keep me motivated with Babbel to keep learning if I wasn't learning with a friend. Great video as always! Keep up the good work! :D

I used to think Duolingo was the standard for language learning since I saw everyone using it, it’s been a slap in the face finding out that it has so many features missing 😭 i kind of understand though, while you learn individual words and VERY specific phrases, it takes forever to actually gain some soft of conversational knowledge and is severely lacking in speaking practice

I'd love to learn Spanish. One thing I never get is why don't they let users choose the accent we want to learn. It like, imagine if you could choose to speak with a British accent in English. Wouldn't that be a pivotal decision?

Compare the "course" duration of both and you will see that Duolingo is simply 4x longer. You'll spend 60-70h hours to finish Babble, while Duolingo takes 200-300 hours. Duolingo is more complete. It's just that you're advancing faster in Babbel and you´re thinking this one is more complete. But not. Take Duo's advanced lessons and you'll find that the lessons are great too. The fault of the Duolingo app, in my opinion, is in the voice of the characters, who are very robotic.
@FranG1214
@FranG1214 2 ай бұрын
Agreed! I started learning with Super Duolingo for a few months, and then added Babbel because of the all the hype of the latter and the hate of the former. I'm so dissatisfied with Babbel that I'm no longer using what I've paid for. Babbel moves to slow for my taste, whereas Duolingo Spanish is a very lengthy course to complete in full which provides for a lot of practice, while increasing the level of difficulty very slowly throughout the course. Duolingo isn't perfect, but I've learned a lot by using it. I us other resources to learn, but Super Duolingo has been my primary source for about 5 months now. It provides quite a bit of audio practice, as well as speaking practice. I agree one of the most annoying things is the robotic sounding voices of the characters, which is hard to understand sometimes.
