Everyone loves a bit of candy every once in a while, and there are plenty of different kinds to choose from out there. However, as anyone knows, some candies eventually get discontinued. Sometimes it's due to poor sales, and sometimes, much like these examples, it is due to something far more ridiculous. These are 10 Discontinued Candies That Took It Too Far!

SUMMARIES:
- The list starts off with a rather odd choice for gummy candy shapes. As any candy lover knows, there are plenty of gummy shapes out there: frogs, bears, worms, sharks, and any other variety of animal. There are gummy soda bottles and gummy feet. The list is seemingly never-ending.
- Nestle is not a company that is known for making poor decisions with their products (setting aside some of their more unsavory actions in the past), and yet they are still not able to escape the kinds of missteps that could easily sink smaller companies.
- First of all, we need to address the fact that calling candy Toxic Waste seems like it would be the thing that undid this particular brand of sweet treat. However, that's not actually the case.
- Gummy bears: you know 'em, you love 'em. They're chewy, fruity, sweet, tasty, and go really great on frozen yogurt. You can bite their heads off, squish two of them together for flavor combinations, and you can even buy giant gummy bears online.
- Anyone who was lucky enough to get a Kinder Egg on Christmas or on a birthday knows that they are not only fun but even the chocolate shell, combined with a layer of cream on the inside, was actually pretty delicious!
- Anyone who has ever gone trick or treating (which, let's face it, is most the people) knows the pain of getting a bag full of smarties, the unappealing little chalky circles that are mildly fruit-flavored.
- This one probably seems obvious to anyone who grew up with this specific type of candy. For those who might not know, here's a brief history lesson: smoking used to be far more widespread, and the dangers of it hadn't exactly been ingrained in the public consciousness yet.
- Don't assume that the failure of candy cigarettes kept candy companies from making stupid decisions in the future as well. Sure, that might have been an obvious decision to make back in the day, but in the new millennium, candy producers had to try and push the envelope and make candy products that would be edgy, different, and appeal to both kids and adults.
- Let's take a journey back to the 60s. It was a far different time than today. Even though the early sixties only saw the rising popularity of the beat movement and entirely new forms of expression, the late sixties erupted in declarations of peace, free love, and expanding one's mind.
- Finally, we come to a candy infamous not for its ingredients, but for its packaging. Maoam was a fruit-flavored candy sold in England, and it was known for the little green mascot that adorned all of its packagings. While he was pretty adorable, when combined with the personified fruit on the package, he got into some pretty compromising situations.

actually, Kinder Joy found it's way back in, by separating the candy and toys. And they're seperated with different sides that can be taken off of each other and then have wrapping plastic for the separation.

yall just for some clarity: american “smarties” are more like parma violets im pretty sure and british/any other smarties are more like m&ms, like chocolate coated in a hard shell

aleeza no we have the violets too. They taste like soap lol but I actually used to like them as a kid. Smarties are kind of like sweet-tarts but a much less vibrant flavor. They’re more chalky than sweet tarts but very similar. They’re not like the violets at all.

That's why those Smarties are available in England and not America because they would get confused with the hard candies that we have. Chocolate Smarties are available in England, Canada, and other countries. For the most part we pretty much have just M& M&M's here in North America and some of the other private label or generic brand candy covered chocolates.

You’ve seen “kinder surprise”. Like a kinder egg, but sadder, not as good of chocolate, and bisected in two. With chocolate on one side and the toy on the other side. You have to scoop out the chocolate which defeats the purpose of a kinder egg.

leanna. Smh. Kids these days. Eating Tide pods & snorting smarties... whew, chile! I’ll literally never understand any of it. I mean seriously, even as a stupid & hella immature kid, doing something so dumb (i.e. eating tide pods) has honest-to-goodness *NEVER* appealed to me or any of my friends, acquaintances, etc. at any point in our lives. Lol Neither did snorting freaking smarties! Or anything for that matter. I mean, in my very early adult exploration/experimentation years, I dabbled a little - over a 3 mo timespan - in snorting other stuff (yep, still hella immature & as dumb as a bag of rocks) but even then, myself nor anyone I know has ever considered snorting smarties or any candy - and those were def some supremely stupid years! 🙄🙄🤦♀️ lol these kids are crazy bold, man, not gonna lie. (I never fooled around after those 3 mo in case anyone is interested) My kids are 12 & 11 now & I sure hope they aren’t dumb enough to snort candy. I don’t use tide pods, nor does any of my family, or their dad’s family, so we should be ok there. I hope. Yikes. Scary. All the other real dangers in the world & we have worry about locking up laundry detergent & monitoring any chalky/potentially-powdered Halloween candy. Smh.

Smarties are delicious! When I was 5 yrs old went grocery shopping with my mom back in 1983 & my mom bought a bag of Smarties. We were in an accident & all I cared about was the Smarties. I remember my dad opening up the cupboard & pulling out the bag of Smarties. I was so happy I cried, literally. To this day I love them and always will!

We have what Americans call "Smarties" here in Canada, but they're Rockets here. We also have the chocolate kind that are like less delicious (in my opinion) M&Ms. We have Kinder Eggs too, I love them!
