Hope you don't mind, but here's a few tips that I've noticed after playing the game for hours on end! Warning, extremely long. - Meowth is easily one of the best starters for early game, especially if you're able to catch one with the Technician ability. Technician increases the damage of any move with a base power less than 60 by 50%. This is extremely useful with a move like Fake Out, which can stun enemies on the first turn of a battle (or the first time Meowth is thrown out into battle.) This makes him the ideal candidate for catching in the early game or chipping away at an enemy's health. - In the first few waves of a new game, feel free to try throwing a pokeball at the beginning of a fight. Usually catch rates for things like Bidoof or Scatterbug are really high, and you want to save as much HP for your mons as possible, so you don't have to buy potions. - Don't feel the need to heal every Pokemon after every battle, especially the ones that are super low level weaklings that you know you arent going to keep for long, otherwise you're just wasting your money. - Bosses show up at every 10th level. As you saw, they have multiple health bars, but cant be caught until their first health bar is broken. Catching a boss gives an extra candy, but I don't think there's a difference stat wise between a normal Bidoof and a Boss Bidoof, for instance. - If you're in a tough battle, don't be afraid to sacrifice weaker Pokemon to guarantee a win. Especially if you're up against a boss. - Like Jas said, the game treats wild encounters as one long trainer battle, so certain moves like Spikes or Stealth Rock will deal passive damage, until you go against a random trainer or your rival. For the same reason, any stat increases or decreases to your Pokemon will stick around too, unless swapped out. - However, moves like Leech seed work differently- they will stick to a Pokemon until they are defeated or swapped out, so when a new wild Pokemon appears you need to set Leech Seed again. You can, however, swap Bulbasaur out and give another team member the passive healing from Leech Seed, if you need to! - As you saw, your rival gave you the EXP Share after beating her on Floor 8. Before that, none of your Pokemon are getting exp unless they took part in the battle. Before this encounter, you should focus on one or two members at most. - Your rival will hard block you on floor 25 if you aren't prepared. This is your first of many difficulty spikes, and it's definitely the biggest imo. - If the Map item appears as a drop, grab it immediately. It's one of the most useful items in the game. - If you can avoid it, don't go to the Metropolis Area without a Psychic, Ground or Fire type Pokemon, there are certain encounters here that can easily wall you- namely Varoom destroyed my entire team because I had nothing to deal with it in the early game. - Exp related items are probably the best in the long run, such as the Exp Charms and Shares- it keeps your team more evenly leveled and strong enough to take on wild encounters with little issue; try to stock up on as many of these as possible. In my first completed run of the game, it really only happened because I got a Super Exp Charm before floor 10, which really boosted my team's overall strength. - Rare Candies are also a great option, especially if you can get a few of the Candy Jars. - I didn't really find a use for the Exp Balance though, it didnt really seem to help out that much and actually ruined one of my runs, where I was focusing on only one Pokemon to sweep the early game. - If you're lucky, you might run into a Mega Bracelet, Dynamax Band or Terrastilization Pokeball- which make their respective mechanics appear as droppable items, which are not guaranteed to pop up before the end of the game, such as a Mega Stone or Gigantamax Mushroom. They can be useful, but if there's something else you want to grab instead, feel free. - Held Items (such as the Miracle Seed or Black Sunglasses you guys found) stack, both with other held items and copies of the same one. So two Miracle Seeds will boost grass moves by 40%. Your Pokemon can carry as many held items as possible. - If you don't need Pokeballs or potions, grab berries. Lum berries are the best kind imo, because they can heal all status ailments. - Shiny Pokemon increase your luck! You're more likely to get better item drops the more shiny pokemon you have on your team. - As the game goes on, Boss encounters are more likely to be Gym Leaders, or even Legendary Pokemon if you're lucky. These encounters can be really tough, so I recommend picking up as many X Items as you can (such as X Attack or X Defense) once you've hit the fifth floor of a level, because X Items only last five floors. - Currently, you guys are playing Classic Mode, which ends at floor 200. Once beaten, this will unlock Endless Mode. - If you beat Classic Mode with a specific type of Pokemon, it will unluck a new version of Endless Mode too! - In the menu is an option to change the "Sprite Sets." I suggest changing it to "Mixed Animations" instead of "Consistent." It essentially animates any gen 6 to 9 sprites, making them even more lively. - You can also enable retries in the menu, if you're having a really good run and don't want to lose it. It brings you back to the beginning of an encounter- such as against a wild Pokemon, trainer, rival or boss- which I find most useful for the Daily Runs of the game (don't worry about these for now.) Obviously, this erases the spirit of a rougelike, so I would suggest letting yourselves get wiped out a few times and retrying with new starters, until you guys get the hang of the game more, if you guys want to even use it at all. Alright, sorry for the wall of text, but that's it for now. I hope you guys keep playing Pokerogue or other Pokemon fangames in the future. I think this is one of the first times I've commented here, but I absolutely love the channel, guys!

Stat changes also persist over battles. So you have to switch out your good Pokémon every once in a while to clear them, that’s why fuecoco kept missing stuff.

Huh. They must have changed how Rollout works -- normally it keeps going until it stops or 5 turns have passed. It's also neat that they're pulling music from multiple branches of Pokémon games -- there was a bunch of Mystery Dungeon music in there.

Fake Out is a guaranteed flinch, but can only be used during the first turn the pokemon is in the battle. Anything that has (P) next to it means that it's partially implemented. Round, for example, is a move that gets stronger if another pokemon used it the same turn (and will cause the pokemon to immediately use it if another pokemon used it the same turn). But it is only partially implemented and just does damage without any additional effect. Anything that has a (N) next to it means it's not implemented. It does nothing. The max floor on a regular run is floor 200.

Btw fuecoco is a special attacker so you should just use special moves the moves that has the blue circle symbol above the pp.fuecoco is a good starter because it gets an op move when it fully evolves. You can't switch your pokemon when you fight a trainer it is because to make the game harder.

Yeah, having played a few (failed) runs, not being able to gain steam and bulldoze through the early difficulty spikes is a death sentence for a run. It's so fun despite the difficulty~ I was able to sweep one of the later Ivy fights with Chesnaught healing and chip dmg stalling, even against the odds. It all comes down to luck tho, it is a rogue like after all

I love this Pokemon content, I tried this game but found it too grindy and not totally satisfactory in the first runs but I get the appeal. I also love how your set of starters in the first run was almost the same as mine Lol (We love Bulbasaur here)
