I am really surprised and confused with the fact he had to go a different hospital for IV access. Taking an unstable, premature baby to a different hospital is beyond me. If you have a NICU and critically ill preemies, you should have the staff IN the hospital so they can help with such difficulties. Instead you want to take a medically frail preemie who is on life support out of the NICU, travel in an ambulance to a different hospital, have the procedure done, take a other ambulance ride back to the original hospital. Talk about putting this little guy's life on the line. So glad he is doing well!

You wouldn’t be able to say that so easily had it been your child on the unit. For some people, they have one chance and one chance only. They’ll fight for that one chance. Don’t be so quick to throw such comments around.
