There’s something about receiving new chicks that seems to make everyone smile. Great daily videos! I used your seed starter video to start 4 trays of seeds, thanks for the step-by-step!

We had several flocks, extremely easy to care for , minimal maintenance and the kids got a great experience with them.

Josh, I helped raise chickens before and would have liked to see a short primer on types of feed like Starter, Grower, Layer, etc. I think it is important to know long each cycle is. Great video. Love this series!

I love baby chicks. They are so cute. I have a couple dozen on order for the beginning of June. Too cold here to get them earlier in Atlantic Canada. I have kept layers many times over the years, but the ones I have coming are Broilers/Meat Kings. TTYL Thanks..

Hey! Love your videos! We're currently building a Chick Shaw and are wondering about the 1" hardware cloth on the "floor"...I know it's for easier cleaning - the poo falls thru...BUT I've read that weasels can fit thru anything greater than 7/8". Idaho has weasels...just trying to be proactive prior to our build! Thank you!

In my suburban small lot home my local code allows up to 12 chicks, must have a square ft of space each, but no roosters allowed. Check your own governing codes before buying.

Planning (building our own) a chicken coop very shortly. Have all supplies you mentioned. I have an endless supply of pine shavings, the question I have is how do you dispose safely the soiled shavings?

That makes really good compost, if you have a garden or trees, or make your own compost.

Just out of curiousity, I believe he said that you can just put a new layer of shavings on top of the old one(s). How often can you do that before you have to clean everything up (and start from the bottom)?

The soiled shavings could be put into round ring made out of wire mesh. Just fill it up and let it be. U can add green grass clippings, leaves, food scraps. = Compost.

We are about to have our first set of chicks in May. We are making it a surprise for our kids. You mentioned something in the video about just adding a layer of wood shavings on top of the ones they already pooped on etc. So when do you clean out the old shavings and give them fresh? I hear people talking changing out the shavings regularly, but it sounds like you don't but rather just add another layer on top.

I know "science" would dispute this but, fertilized eggs from having a Rooster are "alive" with life information and are better for you. Just a thought, but yes Josh, you do not "need" one for hens to be productive egg layerers. I know roosters can be tough on hens, but they may actually like having a "man" around to show them some purpose and of course sex🐣🐔🐓😉
