A lot of that dates back to places like China where having more boys gave you more honor and such, gender preferences are a very old societal construct.

Story Time: My dad's side of the family has never had a girl, so when the doctor said I was a girl, they didn't believe them so they bought me a bunch of boy clothes and one girl piece, and I came out a girl. OOF

Im just confused why some people raise kids non-binary. Wait till theyre old enough to understand and make that decision, instead of constantly being confused. We forget how much guidance kids need to even begin paving their own path... This is also not a hate comment to people who believe in that. Just generally confused. @@quackity3343 If I remember correctly I think the childs gender has something to do with the father and whatever gender the first child is you would have more of a chance to have that same gender for the second child

@@phantom_lorikeet4994 that doesn't make sense to me because a fathers sperm wont make it to the egg because of an x or a y chromosome. So it is completely illogical for someone to say that because you had a girl once, means you are likely going to have a girl again, thats not how it works. It's truly random unless a man is somehow only capable of producing sperm with x chromosomes

I'm much better at the allele sorta thing which was kinda how I was thinking about it but for chromosomes maybe it's something along the lines of a coin filp? If it is the coin filp I usually get the same thing over and over so to me, at least it makes a bit of sense?

Fun fact: In Missouri, where I live, if the father really wants the baby to be a boy, he can sit on the roof, by the chimney, for 7 straight hours and they are almost guaranteed to get a boy. But this is just one of Missouri's many superstitions, so I wouldn't do this unless you absolutely believe in superstitions
