A beautiful song of the end of an era, released just months before the Beatles arrived in America. The song only made it to number twenty-four as a follow-up to "Be My Baby" (also on my channel in stereo), a big number two hit. It was obvious from the chart performance of the song that this style of music was slowly fading out.
It was co-written by the trio of Phil Spector, Ellie Greenwich, and Jeff Berry, with Spector also handling production. This mix sounds more "ice creamy" compared to the boxy-sounding mono mix. The mono mix runs a bit slower than the stereo, so I left it as it released on the stereo album. It was later covered by Andy Kim in 1969, who scored a US Top Ten hit with it. Then again in 1980 by the punk group The Ramones, with Spector producing again, showcasing the song's large potential.
Lyrics:
Woa-oh, woa-oh oh oh
Have I ever told you
How good it feels to hold you
It isn't easy to explian
And though I'm really trying
I think I may start crying
My heart can't wait another day
When you kiss me I've just got to say
(baby I love you)
Come on baby
(baby I love you)
Oh-ee baby
Baby I love only you
Woa-oh, woa-oh oh oh
I can't live without you
I love everything about you
I can't help it if I feel this way
Oh I'm so glad I found you
I want my arms around you
I love to hear you call my name
Oh tell me that you feel the same
(baby I love you)
Come on baby
(baby I love you)
Oh-ee baby
Baby I love only you
Woa-oh, woa-oh oh oh
